Ergotech Triple Monitor Desk Stand

If anyone really thinks this triple monitor stand is expensive, then they should not look at triple monitor stands lol. I have had this stand for 2 years now, its a great stand and when you compare it to other triple monitor stands, trust me, the price is very good.

PS. Adding the 28 inch pole and the ice cube is much more convenient  then the stock version of the stand.

I elaborated one that a bit more in another post. I do know why these things cost as much as they do.

Desktop -  i5 4670k, GTX 770, Maximums VI Hero, 2X Kingston Hyper X 3k in raid zero.

Laptop - Lenovo X230 Intel 535 480GB, 16GB Gskill memory, Classic Keyboard Mod, Triple USB 3.0 Express Card.

dude it was a joke :)) did u google all that to look smart? btw i have a major in mechanical and material engineering..i know everything when it comes to fabrication process..testing and design :) ...your so innocent ,not gonna say more i'll probably get in trouble, ok i`m done.

the raw materials to create something like this may be cheap,  but there is a lot of design and testing that goes into creating a solution this well rounded. In addition to all that there is the fabrication process which for what is really quite a niche product would be quiet expensive, add onto that shipping costs and some kind of profit margin and this is what we as the consumer have to pay for in the end. If you really want there are build logs on this forum and others where people have created custom solutions for less money but that will require you do actually do work compared to a much easier to deal with solution such as the ergotech one. At the end of the day this is just one solution that you can buy, there are others that cost more or less i but would say that this is a good middle ground between those two, having good build quality and functionality without costing and arm and and leg like SpaceCo products do.

Maybe I'm just used to paying crazy amounts of money for pieces of metal that have low BOM costs coming from a cycling background. I mean really why does a brake rotor have to cost $80.

So its around $200 in the US and it cost almost the same as the Silverstone Tek ARM Two Articulating Duo Arm (linus did a video about it ). Now if you where looking to buy one which one would you pick?

I have one monitor waiting for g-sync to come out, and that would make two monitors.

Can you use this triple monitor stand with only 2 monitors? and expect to buy another monitor in the future?

You can choose a triple monitor stand if you want to, all you would have to do is take one of the Telescoping Wings off and now you would have a dual monitor setup. Honestly, if you ever want to go triple but only have two at the moment, then I would go with the Ergotech stand, if not then go with the Siverstoone one. there are a ton of monitor stands on the market, made from a lot of different manufactures and made in many configurations, or being able to add different configurations as needed.

One of the best sites to look at the many monitor stand's available is Mounted Concepts ( http://www.mountedconcepts.com/ ) They carry just about everyone's stands and all their accessories as well.

Ergotech in my opinion is one of the best monitor stand companies out there, their design and locking mechanism are used by a lot of others as well. Best example that comes to mind is the XFX triple monitor stand ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824994053 ) is the Ergotech triple monitor stand with a different base.

Linus, it may be the first time I've ever felt the need to say this, but you are wrong. While that monitor stand is beautiful and I'm sure it's fantastic, it is not the best value.

http://shop.easymountlcd.com/Deluxe-Triple-Monitor-Stand-Free-Standing-up-to-28-002-0020-002-0020.htm

It costs less than $100 USD shipped, and before anyone goes "But it's probably made of crap materials" actually read. It's almost entirely aluminum, and, owning one, I can say it's extremely sturdy and well made. I have 3 24" Asus Monitors on it, and it has plenty of room for more monitors.

What it lacks:

The arms can't have their angles adjusted. I actually like this, because all other options I've seen with bendy arms have sagged over time, having a solid bar going all the way across adds a lot of stability.

Telescoping arms, but they aren't necessary, because unlike the Ergotech, the outside monitor arms can literally slide from the center to the outside edge.

The upgradability, although, there are multiple models available, some with a "1-over-3" setup, obviously the "3 across" setup, and even a "3-over-3" setup.

What it has that this doesn't (to my knowledge)

The solid arm, no sag whatsoever, very important for triple monitor gaming.

The option to do a clamp to desk, which gives you EVEN MORE desk space than a "flat" foot that it rests on.

Price, even the "3-over-3" model comes in at cheaper than the Ergotech stand, I'm sorry, but you are paying for a "brand name" like you would if you bought Bose or Monster Headphones. Yes they are nicer than $5 buds, but there is better value to be found elsewhere.

I am considering doing a video review of it, and will certainly share it on here if I do, but I have to be honest, I will laugh at anyone who spends money on the Ergotech Stand. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's nice, but there are comparable options for cheaper.

My Build
i7-4790k @4.6GHz, 16GB GSkill Ares RAM, Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming G1, Strix 970, RM1000 PSU, 128GB Sandisk SSD, 1TB Barracuda, 3TB WD Green, CM Storm Scout II

Still you could buy a 24" for that money anyway and this is just the stand.

Plastic and PCBs aren't that expensive to make. Neither is the monitor display itself.

I'd like a triple arm like this which can be put on the wall, and not stand on the desk.

Ergotech does make one http://www.mountedconcepts.com/ErgoTech-Triple-Horizontal-900-F16-B03.html it is this version of the monitor stand basically with a wall mount instead, you also can get it in a 6,8 9 and 12 monitor configurations as well. You have to pay to play though as it's not cheap nor is any high quality wall mount isn't cheap anyways :D

Just saying, I bought this stand because of this video. Absolutely 0 regrets, especially as someone who hates seeing wires, and loves having desk room.

I am looking into buying this mount, but I am planning on upgrading my 27 inch monitor into a asus pb287q, so my question is, could this mount support one 28 inch monitor in the center and two 27 inch monitors on the side?

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but any body know where I can get one of these in the UK? Amazon doesn't have the triple and importing from the states looks prohibitively expensive!!
