SSD Endurance Expierement Road to 1PB

drives2.jpg

This was a plain and simple test. Take 6 SSDs and do 1pb (yes one freaking petabyte[1000 terabytes]) of read/writes on it. In the end 3 still stood. This is surpring that they made it. It goes to show just how reliable SSDs really are. Don't forget none of these are rated for more than 200 TB and they all more than tripled that.

evo is shit pro is better!

Computer users fall into two groups:
those that do backups
those that have never had a hard drive fail.

What are you people on about?

Very good test tho, excellent to know that ssds are actually quite reliable.

Damn, here I was thinking that I'd have to worry about the lifespan of an SSD. I'd like to see how long the final three last for.

So my 840 could live for another 127 years, based on how much I've written to it since I bought it. Class.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Makes me feel good about the lifespan of my HyperX 3k and 840 Evo. Gonna take a long time to kill those babes!

Never say it's not broken. Everything is broken. Why? Because everything needs MOAR POWA!

Try out rapid mode on the evo. That will destroy any SSD out there at the moment. Well into the 1000MB/s. It uses your RAM to create a usable storage partition. It's pretty damn awesome.

That is a really interesting article.

I would like to see a similar test with more drives in it, like the new Corsair LX drives and 840 Evo's. I would also be interested in seeing how the drive size effects the life. Larger drives should live longer under such conditions but I would be curious to see how much longer.

I am very impressed that the Corsair drive made it to a PB. I have never used one but I thought the general consensus was that they were not that great of an option.

That's not a EVO, it's just a standard 840 series drive. EVO's are grey, not black like the Pro's. Hence why they taped a piece of paper to one and wrote "Pro".

didn't see it, sorry, after zll, they're similar looking :)
