The same game on console is local co-op native, almost nothing is local co-op on PC.

Having friends over to play a game together on one PC is impossible with a few exceptions and modding and tweaking and all that crap can IN THE end let you do it ( Borderlands, etc).

But just gaming with 2 controllers for example on a PC is just impossible.

I prefer online friends, mainly because where I live if you even mention gaming you are shunned like a leper, even then, any intellectually stimulating conversation is threatening and must be shunned.

Of course we can have LAN parties but I agree with you. I mostly play with skype which is just as much fun, but when people come over, it's usually time to dust off the old playstation 3.

Why not get both and stop being a total nincompoop, picking only one limits your fun. Unless you're poor of course, in that case go make money. Keep the console for multiple people to play together when they come over, have the PC for when you're alone and can get some serious gaming done.

In all honesty and in my own opinion, this is potentially the only downside of the PC in regards to gaming. (Minus the availability of games, but that's because devs and publishers are twats.)

 

People who are saying that being able to chat over TS and the like is enough, are wrong.

There's just something fun about sitting with a friend or a group of friends and playing together.

 

At the moment, the only real workaround is a LAN party sort of configuration where you each play on your own PC...

It is pretty lame. You would think with how many games have controller support on PC these days, you would easily be able to connect 2 and play co-op games.

 

Not only that, but it has the potential to be even better than a console if you happen to have a rig with multiple monitors. Rather than split-screen co-op, you could have dual-screen co-op.

 

But alas, few PC games support local co-op at all. A tragedy, really.

I see a "pcmasterace" post on the PC gaming forum, with no examples except a game that works with "tweaking".

 

I want names of the games, cus I can play Co Op on NBA 2k and Dolphin emulator works like a charm and that is a freakin emulator...

Also seems like a bogus comment. "Minus the availability of games " thrown in there when PC has more games to play than any console and games like Witcher 2 still look better than anything on these consoles. 

 

Yup the PC is really suffering right now with upcoming games compared to consoles that aren't 1-2 years off and may be delayed more. Will have a better Witcher 3, FIFA 15 will now use the ignite engine on PC, NBA 2k15 will probably do the same, Mass Effect 4, Dragon's Age, Battlefront, COD, BF4,  Fall Out may be a PC/Xbox exclusive, which would be minus 1 for consoles, Planetside 2 (we already have from Sony, and we have Titanfall from Xbox, so that is minus one on the consoles), Project Cars, Loadout (coming to PS4 we already have so another minus 1 for console).

 

We also have exclusives this year like Diablo 3 expansion, Wild Star, WoW expansion, Blizzard MOBA, Star Citizen, Next Car Game (which is fun as hell), Dark Souls 2 which can be downsampled from 4 k on a mid end card and looks horrible on the PS3. MXGP a fun motocross game not on next gen and only available in Europe on Xbox 360. MXGP is the reason my brother in law dumped consoles for good and he now boots to big picture mode with the PC i built him.

 

So what exactly am I missing here? Madden? That game has sucked for a decade and NFL 2k was the last good football game. A guy farting rainbows that was mediocre (single player)? The new Forza which looks laughable (see 30 fps post with screenshot I posted in tech news).  Destiny, which is a 6 player mmo (and looks like they had to scale back on that) shooter and which won't even push next gen because it is on old gen?

As far as lack of games? I can make my console many consoles. I can drag emulator games into big picture mode. If anything these consoles have no games, not the PC. Add to that old games on PC can be downsampled (like Mass effect series from 4k or more). More options, more controllers, needing a brain to tweak a few older games, or emulate isn't a negative of the PC. The only thing holding you back on PC is your imagination and using google when you aren't sure how to do something.

When it comes to the development of games, the consoles typically get more of a focus and if you truly believe that collectively, the PC has more to offer in gaming than what you get collectively through consoles then I assure you, you're entirely mistaken.

Trust me, more than anything I'd love for their to be only PC and no consoles, but the whole bullshit /pcmasterrace doesn't disguise the fact that the pc at least on one front is inferior to the consoles.

 

Master-race tools like you are the reason the concept is a joke, when it's a perfectly legitimate premise.

So take your attitude and shove it down your throat so hard you'll be tasting it through to the end of the year.

Blah blah blah. Watch Dogs can be locked at 30 fps, any game can. Yup it is a crappy port. It has horrendous bugs and falling through the ground on all versions That doesn't make it inferior to the console version that runs at 30 with drops and looks like garbage (not that ours looks great).  Also I have never said "master race". Not once on this forum. I have seen many try to diss the PC by saying it though. 

 

What game runs better on a console? Mass Effect series looks horrid compared to a 4k down sample. Witcher 2 was a joke. BF4 had the same problems and looks like garbage. It is more like many of these triple A companies are outsourcing and spending all money on marketing instead of making a good product. Watch Dogs is mediocre on every platform.  

 

I can think of TWO games that were inferior to the console version in YEARS and it was in the first year of a console (this year). This years NBA 2k due to not using the new game engine and FIFA. FIFA is remedying that and NBA 2k probably will as well. NBA 2k on PC can also be heavily modded and can look good, I bought it for under 10 bucks, and we also have a college mod...

 

So the console had a better version of one game I play (NBA 2k) for exactly one year, and I paid 50 dollars less than the console version and modded it and got 2 games for one with a college mod, and my old games look better then their new games. Think I will run out and buy a next gen console right now, so that I can buy the Mass Effect series again (yup EA is probably doing this) minus texture packs at 1080p (probably lower on Xbox One).
