I have a group of friends that have both PC and xbox (including myself) and we usually end up making a huge PC LAN party between 8 people and play BF4. We have tons of fun, and sometimes end up dicking around on GTAV on Xbox.

If you wanted to bash on PC by saying that playing a game with your friend in the same room is impossible, it's not impossible. Yes, it's less convenient than console split screen, but LAN parties are more fun IMO. Wii sports bowling is sometimes fun too... sometimes.

However, you will never know TRUE local play unless you battled pokemon red, blue, or yellow against a friend by connecting with a 3 foot long cable. GAMEBOY COLOR MASTER RACE!!

A second computer isn't really what I'm looking for, okay I do have a laptop capable of gaming and a gaming PC but two controllers on one computer gaming is what I miss.

My bedroom / location where I game in doesn't have enough space to set-up a comfortable second gaming station so either one person goes on a laptop and sits on me bed or there's not really a good option to play a game together and actually enjoy it instead of being bored with it within a few minutes.

Alot of games supporting co-op and not a local variant and such is what I dislike a bit.

Yes I have played Left 4 Dead, Garrys Mod, Killing Floor, Dungeon Defenders and what-not in a LAN type of gaming but one PC as a system to play with multiple friends effectively on isn't just what satisfies me.

It is pretty lame. You would think with how many games have controller support on PC these days, you would easily be able to connect 2 and play co-op games.

Not only that, but it has the potential to be even better than a console if you happen to have a rig with multiple monitors. Rather than split-screen co-op, you could have dual-screen co-op.

But alas, few PC games support local co-op at all. A tragedy, really.

To those who claim they "prefer" online play and not interacting with other human beings in any real way... don't try to shoot down a valid observation just because you don't have any friends. ;)

I once had a mod for two screens, two controllers, one rig for COD4. We played local multiplayer for hours that way.

Don't bash on people and say they don't have friends because they prefer online. I prefer online because I like having all my screen's real-estate. Whether or not someone has friends is irrelevant to the topic, and frankly rude to say they don't.

Local co-op is IMO one of the only benefits to console. Its possible on PC through mods. Hard... but possible.

I understand your argument. But personally I prefer single player games and I extremely dislike splitscreen. When people come over we usually play the WII if we decide to play any games.

Also I have another PC that is capable of playing games, so that is always another option. My brother and I played Trine that way.
