Jump to content

The clip is on the back side of the connector. Press the clip and pull on the cable while the clip is pressed (hold all wires together)

 

You could also insert your fingers through that opening on the back side panel.

Isn't that backwards. There shouldn't be anything for it to clip onto on that side of the connector. You should be able to just pull it out right? Or is it hung up on the heatsink?

 

I've never seen one installed that way.

You're overthinking it, thumb on the left, forefinger on the clip and then slightly wiggle left and right.  Needing to use the cable to help pull is normal, the trick is to use your thumb on the left of the plug to make sure you aren't putting all the force on the cable.

Also given the 8 pin plug is split, you can try pulling out just half it at a time.  Its rarely easy, especially holding the clip open while doing all this, but removing the heatsink is absolutely not the way to go.
