Remove grid from case backsite for vertical GPU Mouth

Hi, I have a new case (Kolink Observatory RGB) and i wanna set it up for a vertical GPU. It isnt created for it, at least not for 2 or 3 slots GPU's. So I have to remove the grid (or whatever you call it) from the backsite my own.

I did this already around 2 years ago with my previous case, with a side cutter. It took my forever and was horrible to work on. But at the end i removed the whole grid and placed my vertical GPU mouth in it, and fit and worked perfectly. But the way to it, was a pain in the ass.

So my question is. How you guys do it? Is there a better and comfortable way to do it? Better tools? Better technique? Should I heat it up first with hairdryer or something, maybe it breaks easier, or it can removed better.. I don't know.

Maybe any videos on youtube that would help?

Yea i hope i can get some tips.

Thanks

You gonna be cutting those out with a metal snippers or tools like dremel with side metal cutter disk. Either way, case modifications will come up looking like shit unless you are experienced.

I used a dremel and took a LOOOOONG time. But honestly the best way is always to just simply buy a case that already has a good vert mount.

Id return this case as it has almost no airflow in the front dur to being closed panel.

You could also just get a vertical GPU mount:

The problem is OP will still have to cut the cross braces found on this particular model of case.

Brace yourself. Are you sure it'll not just go over like shown here:

Yeah, actually I am.

Just because he's installed the Vertical mounted bracket here, doesnt mean it actually allows the display cables to pass through it

And while this PC seems to have been ditched only a few months later for an all white aesthetic build (he mentions this in his early 2024 studio tour), it's otherwise never show in it's "on" state in any video since this. Perhaps he got lucky with cable / port placement on his GPU and just hated the aesthetic of it turned on, but most users will not be so lucky.

Honestly this just smells of an Ad video, which is fine; it's just important to keep in mind for people who blindly think this mount will guaranteed wort with any case even if there's cross braces.

I see, makes sense. Didn't think of that 😅

I used a dremel on mine and it took 5 minutes.  It was easy.

I did this, with that exact bracket, actually.

And you do have to cut out the dividers, or you can't plug in GPU Cables.
