B+M and M key SSD

jorma

Quick question guys, I have an nvme M key SSD. Can this fit into this B+M key adaptor?
image.png.e4f89e9dd90fdf3092c77dd000b86ef8.png

I have an XPG 1tb nvme m.2 ssd. I also have an 2.5 inch m.2 ssd adaptor. This adaptor only support data ssd and I can't fit this nvme ssd into the 2.5 inch as it only supports sta ssd B+M.

My mother board is b450i aorus and only has 1 m.2 slot. my plan is to have this 1TB xpg nvme into this adaptor to B+M and insert it into the 2.5 inch ssd adapt and I can plug in the SSD to my case lian li q58 SSD hot-swappable tray.

That adapter won't work how you like. Since you have a itx board, and no other slots to use, your best option is likely to get  SATA ssd instead.

I have this enclosure adapter but this only accepts B+M key / NGFF sata SSD, my plan is to insert my XPG 1 tb nvme into the adaptor on the 1st post and insert that thing into this 2.5 inch adaptor

this SSD adaptor enclosure and the adaptor on the 1st post cost 4usd in total.

my question is will the nvme SSD fit into B+M key on this adaptor.

As I said before, this won't work. That is a PCIe drive, the adapter works with sata only. There is a reason that key is there, as it keeps you from doing stuff like this.

The first pic is a SATA M.2 & mSATA to SATA 3 adapter.

It won't read NVME, different protocol.

Even if they work you'll be limited to SATA 3 speed anyway.

I suggest just buying a 10Gbps / 20Gbps Type-C NVME enclosure if you want to make use of that unused NVME.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

The WiFi one?
do you use wifi or BT?

you know you can disassemble the WiFi module, and there’s a verticle m.2 port there, you only need adapter from E+A to M ( it will be probably 1 lane PCIe 3.0, but should work if you have space for it )

if you don’t have space, you can use this one

why did you buy mITX mobo?

Do you already have 2 x M.2 NVMe SSD?
And you just don’t know what to do with this one?
how did you find yourself in this situation?

I have the mobo for almost 2 years now and just to happen I have a spare 1tb nvme on an enclosure that I use for travel and work

I use wifi and BT sometimes, I guess I'll just go and get  a 2.5 inch SSD.

been planning to purchase a b550 but still too pricey and it will be a dead end as my 5700x still rocks on this b450i from aorus
