S23 Ultra or S24 Ultra?

Looking to upgrade my phone to samsung. Should I get the s23u over the s24u? s23u is around 330usd cheaper in my region. Or is the s24u worth the extra? I don't really care about all the new ai features added anyways.

Then get the S23.  $330 is a large enough difference to overcome any generation improvements IMO.

The s24 ultra has a better screen. The s24 also leaves the s23 in the dust in terms of performance benchmarks are below. Camera and video playback are slightly better. Here is a great sight for comparing the two phones https://www.phonearena.com/reviews/galaxy-s24-ultra-vs-galaxy-s23_id5997#design

Benchmark from the sight:

Choosing the phone really depends on ur use case if you are not doing anything crazy on the phone and only some gaming + messagin etc. than the s23 ultra is more than enough.

@JeffPhan It's upon you. Obviously spending more money is going to give better experience anyways. It just if you have the budget luxury and the desire for more performance and features.

I have the S23U, and looking at the S24 there's nothing I care about that I wish my S23U had, except seven years of software support instead of four. For $300 less, I'd re-buy the S23U again.

Honestly, I saw almost no difference other than the S23U is oversaturating some phots, whereas the S24U is more natural (something I've noticed on my phone and can be annoying at times where I'm trying to get color accurate photos, but it is what it is, i can correct the photos later when I've needed to)

I have the s21u and couldn't be happier. I was going to jump on a s24u but the ai ended up being a disappointment. I don't see why people are willing to shell out 1000 on something thats just slightly better. if games required the 50 percent bump in performance and say we got lineage 3 or real racing 4 i could see it, but fruit ninja only needs so much power and GTA runs fine on even a s10. one big thing I will say though is that 2600 nits brightness now that could be a game changer outside.

One of my concerns is actually the os update support. I tend to use my phone until it's really worn out. Is missing maybe 2-3years of updates a problem?

for me i don't mind, as the phones likely to break before the end of the updates. alot of times the screen will eventually get broken or the battery will go. im using a safer battery drain method of charging to only 85 percent, so far so good who knows if ill be able to own this for anther year

I kept my S10+ for four years, and it was technically fine when I traded it in(hence I got a good trade in value for it) and it would have lasted me probably another year or so.

At seven years, I imagine the phone itself will probably either fail or you'll want to upgrade because technology had advanced noticeably by then (I noticed the difference between the S10+ and S23U pretty immediately)

I have the S24U, my bud has the S23U, and honestly, other than the 7 years of security and OS updates, and for the 330USD difference,  the S23U seems to be the better buy. I have the Fold4, and a Flip5, so getting the S24U makes sense to me as I lack a slab type phone. For me, the 7 years software update is a big factor in my decision to get it.

The AI functionality portion of the S24 series should not matter as the S23 series (I believe, or at least, the S23U) would be updated to include the AI portion as well. Heck, even my Flip5 would get the AI update as well. IF the OP can afford the 330USD difference, the promised 7 year software updates would be a good enough reason, for me at least.
