what would you pay for a intel i5 650 and dvd reader

If it's just a processor and a disk drive without any complementary components, 10€.

English is not my first language, so please excuse any confusion or misunderstandings on my end.

I like to edit my posts a lot.

Nothing. Nehalem is firmly in "too old to be worth using for modern tasks, too new to be interesting as a time capsule" territory in my opinion. (Unless it's a MacPro5,1.) Optical drives are useful, but they're a dime a dozen.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

I wouldn't bother.. but if you already have a mobo that's suitable then maybe $10.

Bout tree fiddy.

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.

The i5 650 is interesting from a computer history perspective - it's one of the first i5 CPUs, and it has 2 cores with HT, which would soon become the standard for i3 parts. So if you work for a media outlet or run a YouTube channel in the vein of "Random Gaming in HD" or "LGR" where you wanted to do a retrospective piece on an old CPU, it could be worth getting.

Otherwise, it's highly unlikely to be worth it. The motherboard price is going to be ridiculously bad from a value perspective. DDR3 RAM is in an awkward spot in terms of value, too.

Now, you could punch a hole into the CPU and turn it into a keychain or use it for a nerdy necklace. And in that case, it might be worth a few dollars.

As for the DVD reader - it depends on if you need one for some reason. Probably wouldn't pay more than $10 though, as then you're getting into the price of USB DVD burners, which can both read and write.
