Thoughts on MINISOPURU

Hey hey!

 

We were recently presented with a sponsorship opportunity with MINISOPURU. MINISOPURU creates USB-C docking stations, and they want us to promote the MD6950D. Their online reviews look great, but I wanted to see if anyone has had any experience with using their products.

Not a big fan of docks that rely on third-party development to ensure their continued compatibility (i.e. DisplayLink). While it does work, there are explicit limitations (the screens aren't GPU accelerated in the same manner) that some users may not be prepared for.

 

IMO, there's not much that sets this apart from any of the other myriad Taiwanese/Chinese brands selling docks on Amazon. I would rather LTT avoided sponsoring "brands" that are abusing/muddling the US Patent Office trademark application process and stick to established brands that care to maintain/foster a proper brand image in the US/world.

yeah.. no.. i'm not feeling this...

 

it's "a dime a douzen" usb-c dock with a sticker on it.

 

their website is full of spelling errors, they advertise making money as an affiliate, and one of the 4 "media press" on their website is a website that has posted 5 "reviews" TODAY, that are just the press materials provided by the brand "puked" into an article.

 

past that... their website is a shopify page, registered trough alibaba.

 

funny sidenote, in their footnote they have "minisopuru, powered by minisopuru"

 

and the "powered by minisopuru" is a link to shopify.com, because it was meant to be "powered by shopify"

 

IMO taking sponsorship from these guys would do more bad for the image of LMG than it would do good for the sale of these docks.

 

i think this review i found on amazon puts it best:

i'm even hard-pressed to find a feature this has that the HP doesnt...
