Philosophy help

I recall something about Descartes.

He said something along the lines of

X concept could not have been introduced within the circle of humanity, so it must have been introduced by an outside force, therefore god.

And it was about universally accepted concepts or something.

Anybody?

X concept is a hit, with force(my arm), therefore: my fist.

Honestly, there needs to be some context for what concept you're somewhat talking about.

I am an imperfect being [by evidence]

I have a clear and distinct idea of a perfect being (i.e. God); that is, the objective reality of perfection exists [by evidence]

I am less (formally) than the objective reality of perfection [by g), from last class]

Therefore, there have to be a perfect being existing formally from whom my innate idea of a perfect being derives. I could have created the ideas of all substances, but not the one of God.

I think you'll find your answer in one or more of the following links:

http://www.iep.utm.edu/descarte

http://www.sparknotes.com/philosophy/descartes/section2.rhtml

http://www.westga.edu/~rlane/intro/lecture11_epist5.html

There are more than a few mentions with the concept you are referring to. Although, because that is not enough detail in what you stated, I cannot recall exactly what you're talking about. All I can say is, and you already knew this, this is for sure very closely along the lines of what he based all his thoughts and beliefs on. I just had a hard time tracking down exactly that. You should have a much easier time, as I am only going by what you mentioned and what I remember from philosophy and of course because this is in your head, lol.

Hope you find what you're looking for.

Good Luck~

I plan to look at the links the two of you posted some time tomorrow, but I'm exhausted from working on this philosophy paper.

Ended up substituting that concept that I wanted to use with something else, but it's still bothering me.

  ~Thanks LTT community.

Will update when I figure out what it is.

I met with my philosophy teacher and figured out what it was.

The moral argument.

That no matter where you go, no matter what culture you go to, they have a sense of right and wrong.

Not to be mistaken for having the same sense of right and wrong but all cultures have A sense of right and wrong.

This sense of morality is not a part of human nature, thus it must have been introduced outside of humanity.
