Ethernet network splitter and POE

I watched a LTT video about network splitters: 

and while his factory splitter seemed to be a non-working fake, he wired a working one himself in the second part of the video. However at 7:37 he says that a four pair POE definitely won't work (fair enough, since only two pairs are available per connection) and will cause serious damage if you try it (that's what I'm trying to understand).

 

I also watched a video demonstrating a simple VCELINK network splitter adapter: 

which contains a wiring diagram at 0:40 (I edited it in the attached image). I'm guessing he must have wired his the same way.

 

It seems to me that the two ports used don't know anything about each other while carrying signals / power across these adapters to their destinations. So I don't see how there could be any POE issues with these adapters. Is there a scenario that could actually cause serious damage using this setup?

with 100m poe connections, the POE uses the non data connections, so all 4 pairs are used. 

 

 

Typically getting a poe powered switch is a better idea here. Here is a example of a switch I have used to power multiple poe devices from one main poe++ connection https://store.ui.com/us/en/collections/unifi-switching-utility-indoor-outdoor/products/usw-flex. This is normally a much better idea than these splitters as they allow multiple 1gbe devices, and follow all the ethernet specs.
