$1950 Dell Alienware prebuilt offering an A770 16GB, a $259 GPU

Summary

Dell recently revealed a new Aurora R15 with the Intel ARC A770 for $1950, and this is a 'discounted' price

Quote

Aurora R15 Gaming desktop has been upgraded to feature an Arc A770 GPU with 16GB of memory. The cheapest option for this system is this graphics card, paired with a Core i7-13700F non-K CPU, and it costs $1,949. Worth noting that the same system is offered in Canada at $2,699 (CAD). The combination of the Intel CPU and GPU makes the R15 one of the first full all-Intel gaming desktops, which is a clear win for Intel and their push into the gaming sector.

Quote

Although the inclusion of the A770 GPU into the Dell gaming desktop is great news for Intel, the $2K price for this system is not convincing, considering that the A770 GPU could already be found for just $259 on the DIY market. (however now $289)

Quote

Users will have other CPU options to choose from, including 13700KF, 13900F and 13900KF, which cost $100, $150, and $250 more each. The R15 can be upgraded to an NVIDIA RTX 4070 GPU for just $50. Even though the NVIDIA GPU has less memory (12GB), it is a much better gaming card and a better choice than the A770.

It’s unclear if Dell is using the Intel Limited Edition (aka reference design) model because this model has already been discontinued. Therefore, it would appear that Dell might be adding their version of this Intel GPU, which would also be a new development. The Intel board partner list would be extended once again.

My thoughts

It's interesting to see that Intel is entering the large prebuilt market as an option, however it's not good to see it at such a high price and with such lacklustre components for the price. But it'd be interesting if we see intel more involved in the market

What the heck is the total consumer price of these components? 1000$ plus the case? Have they completely lost their minds?

If the OS is the second most-important feature, yeah sth is totally off. I really hope no one buys this rubbish.

Hmkay so I was off by 110$, guess the CPU is more expensive than I though (JFC if the 700 is already 360, what do you have to shill out for a 13900K or 14900K). Did not know CPUs are currently that expensive.

Yeah 840 to be precise, then accounting for the invaluable included OEM (machine-locked?) Windows home license, deduct 40$ and we're at your 800.

I can't the mobo listed on the web page. If they use the same one for all the systems it could be Z chipset maybe, since it could have K CPUs.

Don't like it, don't buy it.  Simple.  Like it but can't afford it?  Well make threads on LTT, Reddit, and everywhere else you can.  Go on and on about the high price and comparing it to cheap China junk you find on PCPP.  It's the same thing with people who can't afford the Ferrari's of the world and go online comparing them to the new Corvettes.  So old.  FTR the R13-16 come with platinum PSU's and Z690 chipsets.  The R14 and R15 Ryzen Editions, those are B550 and B650 chipsets.  If you want to talk overpriced go look at Corsair or Origin.  Who is Sparkle?  Did that come from Temu?  LOL!!

What kind of warranty do you get if you build a system off of PCPP?  You get individual MFG warranties, and whatever return policy the retailer has depending on what you bought.  Sometimes they refuse the return (Amazon!)  That is why there are people who have been RMA'ing this, and shipping that back for months and still not have a working system because they can't figure out what's wrong.  Plenty of you have been shafted by shady MFG not honoring their warranty (Gigabyte anyone?)  Dells support is top, you call them up and speak to them.  If it's diagnosed to be a hardware problem, they send someone out usually within 2 business days and replace it.  If the issue still occurs, they expedite build you a new unit and send it out.  You send the defective one back and they'll figure it out on their dollar, not yours.

Well its a taiwanese company that left the gpu market around 15 years ago and just came back (probably because Intel wanted a manufactuer on their side)
Personally i Like their gpus, because they look nice

I honestly just made this thread to inform anyone not to buy it as it’s so absurd. In hindsight that might not have been so smart. Thanks for the insight

I do not see any reason to care, anyone buying an Alienware deserves to have their money stolen.

No.  We're here to educate and steer them clear of Alienware.  Not laugh when the ignorant buy from a brand marketing lies to them, how would they know better?

Like the people buying Bose.  It's not their fault, they don't know they're buying shit.
