Am I exceeding my PCIE Lanes?

Hey all!

Random one, Ive ben noticing jittering in games & I'm not quite sure why, so before I go on a deep dive, just wondering if someone here can confirm/ debunk whether I'm using too many PCIE lanes? I've tried reading into this but Im kinda lost

My Specs;

Motherboard: Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite (Rev 1.0)

Both M2 Slots are occupied ( 1 x Gigabyte 1tb M2 & 1 x Intel 1TB M2)

Graphics Card: Asus TUF 3080Ti

Other;

Storage - 1 x 2TB Seagate Firecuda SATA Drive 3.5"

RAM - 64Gb Corsair Vengeance DDR4

CPU - AMD 3900X

It's not really how PCIe lanes work. No, this is not your issue.

Most likely its the cpu holding you back. 3900x is prone to latency spikes thanks to the L3 being shared for 3core units. Its like a (3+3)+(3+3) setup where as the new 3D models that work great with games are a single 8 with much faster cores. You could upgrade to a 5800x3d and sell that old one, 150-220$ upgrade depending on how much you get for 3900X there.

ok well step one is doing diagnostics to find out why vs taking total guess at it having anything to do with pci-e lanes.

No, you're fully using the X570 lanes, no "overload"

CPU 20 lanes : 16 on GPU, 4 on 1st M2

Chipset 4 lanes : 4 on the 2nd M2

no problem. if i ever need anyone to recommend buying more hardware before doing any sort of diagnostics I know exactly who to go to.

Sarcasm-

"The truth is, chronically-sarcastic people frequently rely on this obfuscation to express emotions and communicate.

These folks also often harbour passive-aggressive characteristics and simply don’t have the ability to be real about emotions,

or fear confrontation were they to speak their mind.

They therefore employ sarcasm, a sort of cloak-and-dagger approach to communication.

It allows them to expel brewing contempt in a manner that feels safe.

It is also serves as a repellent along with the smug demeanour many sarcastic people adopt.

Oftentimes sarcastic, passive-aggressive souls don't want people getting close due to an inability to handle emotional intimacy.

Most people can only handle so much of them, even if they are truly a good person,

because of their sarcasm. Said person gets their cake and eats it too."

Or you could read reviews to keep up with hardware and how it performs. Feel free to ask but there must be quicker and easier ways.

I took a wild stab in the dark just based on how the text was written in understandable English. No need to waste everyone's time on useless low level tech support stuff like turning it off and on again, gpu in x16 slot instead of chipset x4, re-installing drivers etc. Yes slow ram or installing games/os on a spinning drive can cause it to jitter more but 3900x will likely offer decent to annoying amounts of microstutter in most new games with high refresh rates even when everything is configured correctly. So its most likely a complete waste of time trying to hunt down why it stutters when the answer in most cases is simply the cpu in use.
