With BT, I'm supposed to get 16Mb down and an unspecified upload speed. Paying for crap internet sucks. Google Fiber / Fiber in general is needed everywhere.

A couple weeks back, our provider gave us a 60/6 > 90/9 upgrade for free. (It also gave the 20/2 people a 30/3 upgrade)
Unlimited.

Well yeah. Can't really do much else unfortunately. I just don't understand how America can be SO FAR behind Western/Northern Europe in this sort of stuff. Britain's net for the most part is pretty bad aswell.

That is for 1 year, whats the price hike after that first year?

when i was on fios till i switched to optimum cuz i didnt get netflix above 240p, i was on the 50mb plan and my prices went from around 80 to around 120

now im happy with no contract no caps, sadly its not fiber but i still get a constant 45mb for a quarter of the price on wifi. so im a good jolly rancher.

Space Journal #1: So Apparently i  was dropped on the moon like i'm a mars rover, in a matter of hours i have found the transformers on the dark side of the moon. Turns out its not that dark since dem robots are filled with lights, i waved hi to the Russians on the space station, turns out all those stories about space finding humans instead of the other way around is true(soviet Russia joke). They threw me some Heineken beer and I've been sitting staring at the people of this forum and earth since.

Do you by any chance know the country that's up there in terms of internet connected houses?

Here's a thought: Wifi piggybacking is a lot more common that most of you realize and many customers really don't know how to properly detect it and monitor it or even turn off wifi at all. My neighbor once gave me his wifi pass (he's on 200mbps vs my 20) but even if he didn't there's always at least 5 networks around me where I live so I can do my heavy lifting of streaming and downloading off them and having them foot up the bill with the ISP.

If you mean the country with the best, most and most reliable internet it's always going to be either the Netherlands, Sweden, or Belgium right now.

This is purely about internet providers here :P yes America does a LOT of stuff different (and in our opinion wrong) than western europe but right now isn't internet providers what we're discussing? :P

As far as I know, it's mostly US and Australia that have these horrible data caps.

We don't have them in Sweden at least.

Do they pay like more for their internet, or are their providers actually cool guys that aren't money-cinching douches like ours?

Less so. Net neutrality isn't even discussed here and I guess they can get higher speeds for cheaper. This is the first good move I've seen from them, but 60/6 wasn't wrong to begin with. We do get bad notice when they're doing an update at nighttime and it's out for an entire night (without the consumer's knowledge) but that's rare.
