i thought they fixed the thing were it has to be filled port one to 6 and not missing. could be just on the xt?

evidently there's no firmware update for the device either

With all the Trolls, Try Hards, Noobs and Weirdos around here you'd think i'd find SOMEWHERE to fit in!

Is it even possible to send a firmware update via the PWM or ARGB header?... kinda doubt it.

@thrasher_565

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Hey Glenn,

Thank you for the update on this ticket.

The best way to explain the Lighting Node Core is as a simple, RGB Controller that works in series based on the number of LEDs, or types of fans, the user tells the unit it is attached to in iCUE.

Due to how the Lighting Node Core functions in iCUE, mixing fans is not supported; however, you can trick the Lighting Node Core into sending the signal for the proper amount of LEDs. For example, like the user "ChonkerFox" has setup, 3 SP Elites(8 LEDs) and 2 ML Pros(4 LEDs) can all light up if the Lighting Node Core is set to a minimum of four "8-LED Series fans". I, personally, would not recommend assigning more LEDs than needed, as it can have unintended effects on the fans.

These LEDs are addressed sequentially, so the ports prior have to be fully utilized before passing the LED signals to the next header:

This applies throughout the product line, aside from a niche fan that was used in one of our cases that requires 12v RGB and the iCUE Link setups.

Unfortunately, due to the complexity and confusion the setup may cause, we do not recommend it or officially provide support for mixing fans. Our newer controllers(Commander Core/XT, iCUE Link) have automatic RGB fan detection for this reason.

You should give @NorKristhe solution...

This is an intresting take.
first its an ARGB controller..

i have been running 3-4 "standard" ARGB devices off corsair controllers (node pro and cmd pro) without any problems ... (or .. the 24pin ARGB device is not working with a node pro but works fine with cmd pro..)

the uninteded effects can only be that  in a rainbow effect one color starts on another LED on fan 4 vs fan 5

I ment for the controller it's self

Which controller? The PWM repeater? The RGB lighting node?

Hmmm...Corsair 'info' infected me so I wrote ARGB by accident. 😅 Still, the point remains - I don't know that it's possible for there to be a firmware update of the node.

Damn, I forgot about that. I guess the RGB header can be used to transfer that update...Or the PWM header.

no it's done over the USB.  You only update the firmware on the lighting node core. not the fans

it doesn't have to be completely full.  they just have to be pluggied in in sequence. so i have 5 fans.  i need ports 1 - 5 filled and leave 6 empty

i no thats that i said but i read somewhere that that problem was fixed for the core controllers. as well being able to mix fans.
