Im upgrading Finally from Z270, need a bit of insight/advise.

Im upgrading Finally from Z270, & need a bit of insight on how better things will be, coming from a Z270 to Z690. 7th Gen to 12th Gen.

When i upgraded years ago from the 3570k to the 7600k i noticed a small tho ok performance jump, i was happy.

I need insight/thoughts from what i use now to what im getting :Not upgrading GPU just yet.

My current build is:

                               1080p gaming for me.

Case: Thermaltake core x71 non glass edition. later ill upgrade it, fine for now.

PSU: Corsair RM 1000 all those years ago.

                               Mobo: Asus Prime Z270-AR.

                               Cpu: 7600k oc'd to 4.8

Gpu: 970 g1 gigabyte. Bios hacked.

RAM: corsair vengeance 2311 mhz 2x4gb 2x8gb. - just upgraded ill get to that.

                               Win 10-home-64bit.

Cooling: Custom Loop all EK parts 4 rad system:

Temps are around gpu-23c - just under 50c under game load 55c in

summer time. cpu hit around low 80's - no load it's 38-40's.

                                                                           120: back of case.

                                                                           240: top of case.

                                                                           360: bottom of case.

                                                                           480: front of case

                                                                           EK Vader fans.

Im getting/have these parts:

Mobo: Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Elite DDR4 (just got it)

CPU: 12600K or 12700k not sure yet. do i spend 400 or 500. ish Australia prices.

                                      RAM: 2x Team T-Force Vulcan Z 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz CL16 DDR4 Grey - 32GB's installed now. i put it in the z270 just to see. works ok.

CPU Block not sure on what 1 to get either EK or get the Thermaltake W9 clear version so i can see the coolant.

Years since ive upgraded my system, every year clean the pc & change coolant. As i mentioned before

the upgrade from 3570k to the 7600k i noticed a small tho ok performance jump, i was happy with it. So im guessing ill notice a great jump

in performance coming from 7th gen to 12th gen.  I don't need the latest top.

Thoughts & opinions please on this topic cpu block & cpu & anything else would be great. Want pics or more info i can if you want. & Thank You.

12600k or 12700k.

What 1700 block to get. EK or Thermaltake's W9 clear version.

Case: | TT Core x71 | Mobo: | Gigabyte Aorus Elite DDR4 | Cpu: 13600K | 1.310V | P-Core 5.7GHZ | E-Core 3.2GHZ | Cpu Block: EK Quantum Velocity2 | Ram: Team T-Force Vulcan Z 4x8GB 3200MHz DDR4 | Gpu: Gigabyte GTX G1 970 Bios Hacked 1.275V | Gpu Block: EK | Cooling: Custom Loop | Rads: 4 | PSU: Corsair RM 1000w

12700K doesn't make sense unless you can get it for significantly cheaper than the 13600K, the 13600K is faster in almost every way.

Depends on what you expect the performance jump. For gaming there's probably a small, but noticeable performance increase in some games, some will stay the same, while some may have big improvements, in particular to the lows, if you upgrade the GPU the difference would be bigger. For other tasks the 12600K and 13600K are going to be significantly faster, they're 70%+ faster per core, while including 2 extra cores, HT and E-cores, making for a 3x(12600K) or 4x(13600K) improvement compared to an OC'd 7600K in heavy MT loads.

I hope you are aware of the really poor overclock on Alder and Raptor lake, especially without E cores disabled. If you are fine with de-balling it (metaphoric), 12600K performs similarly to 13400 and its cheaper by quite a margin. On DDR4 it would be similar in IMC performance, even though 12600K is theoretically better thanks to the fact that its not a defect bin like 13400.

For 1080p gaming the 13600K is going to make more sense than 12700K, with the 12600K being more sensible than 12700K because of how cheap it is compared to Ryzen 5 7600 platform cost that performs similarly. but even in 1080p games are starting to eat more than 3.5GB and takes some rendering horsepower for high framerate and consistent frame time, so also note that a GPU upgrade should be in the calendar too.

Thank you, now im thinking instead of 12gen this.

13th gen is cheaper i didn't expect that 1.

I need clarification on the Mobo, Since BIOS Version F22 (there is a F25) i can use 13th gen that cpu 13600k im not gonna do 13700k as it's $600. so yeah this mobo with 13600k is cheaper & runs a ton better you say, i say heck yeah & thanks for the advice on this 1. Wow im actually shocked. Ill do this tho not just yet in a few days.

Oh my ram upgrade is more then fine right ? like ill never hit 32gb's anyhow but 3200mhz should be fine for gaming. Thanks again.
