what makes your setup different?

mclainlk

Watercooling is not quieter than air cooling whaaaa? maybe for AIOs, but even AIOs with pwm fans can be silent. esp noctuas.

U seem super uptight about stability. u buy a k series but u dont overclock yet you criticize people who buy unnecessary  ram and psu, seems a bit hypocritical.

anyway there's nothing wrong with it. I just had to write this out to help me stop cringing.

I buy a K series because it's also cheaper for me since Micro Center has the best prices on CPUs and gives you $40 off a motherboard when you get the processor.

Unlike most of my friends, I don't use a Razer mouse but a Minix Avior 8200. Thank you Linus.

It's got the mercedes badges from my first car on it. And the baby blue details are painted gun metal gray. + I've painted a skull on the inside of my case window.

And it's just a temporary case until i can build it into my desk.

Well, cringing? What's to cringe about?

The noise argument depends on the exact parameters of one's setup. Some generic tower cooler from Xigmatek or w/e might be extremely loud, and so can a cheap AIO like the H55 since it has a crap fan. Any AIO or rad with Noctua fans can be as quiet as any air cooler with noctua fans or a cooler from Noctua. A custom loop doesn't necessarily equate to silence; I see plenty of loops with Corsair SP120s and those things are far from quiet (they do it for the color rings). Plus, when you have huge 480mm rads + a bunch of ventilation airflow fans, it's bound to be a loud setup.

The -K chip also doesn't mean that you have to overclock. Sure, it's more expensive, but that depends on where you live. Where I live, the 4670 and 4770 are pretty much the exact same price as 4670K and 4770K, so why not? I know that now that everyone seems to know about the partial OC abilities of Intel's locked chips, it doesn't matter as much if you have a -K chip or not if you only want to OC a bit.

Unnecessary PSU and RAM isn't the same as buying a -K chip. A PSU is always on; this isn't like a -K chip where you can dictate the clockspeed. You get a 1000W PSU for a 350W rated system (I saw this yesterday on PCPartpicker), you get out of it wasted energy and money. RAM is debatable like I said; AMD differs from Intel and people are free to have their own interpretations of those respective systems' responses towards different timings / frequency RAM.

Stability is nice to have once in a while. Otherwise Asus wouldn't be selling its WS boards, Sabertooth and Gryphon/Vanguard lines to consumers.

I get what you're saying though.

I didn't mean guys as in the gender I just thought it would sound nicer than people? and when I talk to two or more people guys is just the first thing that pops into my head to signify that I'm talking to the group

The masculine always takes precedence when you talk to agroup of people. Its normal if it is the first thing that pops in your head, its grammar.

I don't get coil whine from my RM units, but I've found it depends on the other hardware in the system as well; for example my Seasonic 660XP2 causes coil whine when paired with my Gigabyte Z87X-UD5H but not with my wife's Asus motherboard. As for Das Keyboard, I dislike their glossiness and I do like backlighting a lot (as long as it's white).

Yeah. My cheap ass psu doesnt coil whine. suck that :D. My GPU does :-(

cause my budget is so small, yet I managed to cram so much in.

7870XT ~$100 (used, came with aftermarket cooler)

Phenom II x4 ~$100 (at time of purchase, 2010)

8 GB of Ram ~$40 (remember when it was cheap?)

ECS 880G motherboard ~$60

Corsair neutron GTX SSD ~$0 (was a gift, thankfully)

Hatachi 500GB HDD ~$20 (remember when it was cheap?)

Antec VP-450 PSU ~$40 (great build quality, can handle all the parts stated above)

NZXT Gamma Classic ~$40 (at time of purchase, 2010)

3x Gateway 1600x900 monitors ~$150 (Refurbished)

Logitech K360 ~$10

Onn M730R ~$10

my total? $570 for a great mid-high end gaming machine.

how did none of that fail? considering alot of that is refurbished/used, i got all new parts, and most of them failed

Yup I'm still building it. Haven't really been able to get much done since I keep forgetting to get the drivers installed for it. this weekend I hope to get the drivers installed and maybe try to get a video of it doing some 3DMark MAX 99 benchmarks.

Really the last thing I will do to it that will make it complete is to throw it into the case that Vengeance is in now, but I'll have to get a HAF 912 for Vengeance first.
