  • I like to have youtube/twitch open on my 2nd monitor while gaming

ye then defo get the 7900 xt, if it was for productivity then I would have gone for the 4070 ti but for gaming the 7900 xt for sure

The return Idea was discarded until I change my mind, again. I think it probs is worth returning the items for AM5 with DDR5 even though I would have to put in +- 70-100 euros more because of the more expensive DDR5.

@QuantumSingularity already mentioned the MOBO and DDR5 kit I could go for. Did you chose that RAM kit because of the CAS latency? And Gigabyte B650 AORUS ELITE AX  vs MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI  which one would be the "better" pick?

Another note: the DEEPCOOL AK620 will be sufficient for the 7800X3D?

Oh okay.   I dunno if it's worth adding an additional 100 - it depends what budget you have.   I would pick the MSI board over that one, for sure.

Doesn't matter but msi's tomahawk boards are really good. Both are good but I would go with the msi just cuz I like how it looks

I am about 90% sure this is going to be it:

I actually will only spend around 30 euros more for the 7800X3D in total. The CPU cooler aka the DEEPCOOL AK620 does not need changing right?

nope, that'll be fine for the 7800X3D (it could probs be cooled by a single tower cooler like the vetroo v5)

I thought RAM did not/barely matters for the 7800X3D paired with an AMD GPU? Also I would need to adjust right fan of the DeepCool AK620 for TridentZ ram.

it matters for all amd cpus, it doesn't care what gpu you pair it with

Also your thinking about SAM (Smart Access Memory) which is essentially a more optimized reBAR

Thanks for the suggestions. What features does a B650 MOBO have over a B650M? Just wondering if I might be paying extra for features that I will not even use.

nothing, just form factor (matx is just a smaller atx in both width and height, its between atx and itx) 5 Smallest Mini ITX Cases 2022 (Thin & Tiny)

Could I even go as low as an A620M or is that not recommended? And do RIPJAWS work fine on AM5 since they have XMP?

yes you could possibly. You just won't be able to oc or undervolt your cpu (tho its a very good cpu so there's no need for that)

I would go for this one Gigabyte A620M GAMING X Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard (A620M GAMING X) - PCPartPicker

Or this one ASRock A620M Pro RS Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard (A620M Pro RS) - PCPartPicker

And to answer your question about ram, if your unsure (even tho they should be fine) then just get the flare ram

I am going for an B650 MOBO because I need the extra USB ports. Undecided however if the ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 /ASRock B650M PG Riptide is good enough for me or If I will go for the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI. The ASROCK B650M is a lot cheaper but do not know if I should cheap out on a MOBO when I am already spending quite a lot

I wouldn't 1. Asrock's vrms and cooling aren't amazing 2. That tomahawk is really quite good and has all the features

Wasn't really for the form factor, more the price. Micro ATX B650M MOBO are about 50 euros cheaper than B650.

Also where did you read that AM5 benefits from low latency? I believe you for sure but the RAM kit that I want with CL30 https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/product/LBstt6/gskill-flare-x5-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-f5-6000j3038f16gx2-fx5  is out of stock haha.

Will I notice performance difference whatsover when going for:

https://nl.pcpartpicker.com/product/cnbTwP/gskill-flare-x5-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl32-memory-f5-6000j3238f16gx2-fx5

If so I will just have to wait until it is back in stock.

Alright my indecisive ass needs to make a decision on the MOBO. Everything else is pretty much guaranteed right now. I am looking at the following options:

MINI ATX/M

ASRock B650M PG RIPTIDE 180 euros
Gigabyte B650M GAMING X AX 180 euros
MSI MAG B650M MORTAR WIFI 210 euros

GIGABYTE B650M DS3H 167 euros

ATX

MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI 230 euros

Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX 209 euros

Are there also brands I should avaid for the MOBO paired with an 7800X3D like ASUS?

Maybe I should make another thread about this question?

Out of these I would say the best for the money is the b650 gaming x ax. But the b650m DS3H isn't too bad if you wanna spend some less. But IMO get the gigabyte gaming x

Just seen that one of the MSI mobo is on sale. So I got the option between the MSI PRO B650-P WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard which is 185 euros and the Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX  which is 210. Or ofcourse the most expensive option the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI  for 235 although that is probs not worth the extra price.

Just seen your reply in the other thread so ignore this

These 3 are completely different tiers of motherboards. The Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX has 8+2+1 pwoer delivery, the MSI PRO B650-P WIFI ATX AM5 is 12+2, the MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI is 14+2+1. They are intended for different kinds of CPUs. One is a basic not high above mid-tier CPU mobo (ryzen 7600(X). 7700(X)), the other other is about the mid tier CPUs (7800X 7900X 7800X3D) and the Tomahawk could handle even a 7950X, although not many people would pair that CPU to B650 mobo. For 7800X3D i'd always chose the Tomahawk over the Pro or the Gaming X from Gigabyte. The €50 difference is more than worth it.

I'm not gonna recommend Gigabyte. Too many sketchy RMA problems.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Yeah I actually managed to run it in one go, no issues so far. I posted a 3D Mark Spyrun benchmark in the other post: https://imgur.com/a/fk6Yphq  or https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/96144288?  Temperatures seem to be fine. I read that it was recommended not to use AMD EXPO at first startup and all but I assume I am safe to use it now.

This thread was solved already it just went a bit off topic haha.
