Phanteks T30 as case fans - bad idea?

Guanzo

Hello,

I bought 4x Phanteks T30 fans for Corsair 4000D airflow case (3x front 1x rear). I heard Phanteks and Noctua fans are bad for case fans they're designed for heatsinks and radiator.

Am I wrong?

I have used my T30s in my case, they are pretty good. Not sure why someone would say otherwise. I am thinking of buying 2 more triple packs to line my case with 😄

They'll work quite well they have a huge CFM ability, Noctuas as well

But the new D30s will work as well and look much better

Anyway you don't need fans with super high rpm as case fans, you need fans that move air quietly at mid rpm like 1200, things like Arctic 140mm are more than enough and cost much less...

Static Pressure fans are arguably even better for intakes because of the boneheaded low porosity mesh and solid front panels that a lot of cases have now. Its fine, the fact that theyre Static Pressure/Radiator Optimized doesnt make it not a good chassis fan.

I cant think of an instance where you wouldn't want a fan like this. They are awesome.

I used 120x38 fans for over 10 years, until about a year or two ago. High pressure fans are where its at. Pure "airflow" fans are a joke.

I bought 4x Phanteks T30 fan for case. Should I change fans or they're just fine?

They're more than fine but overkill and quite expensive, plus they look meh imo 😑

I wouldn't say overkill.

If you are just a regular user/gamer type, then you probably don't need them as case fans.

But if you are into high performance computing, and you are used to your fans always being up there.. then yeah these are great! Blows pretty much everything else away.

I mean you can say that for every non ARGB fans. You wonder why most of them are black or white? Because most common case colors are black or white.

No, some non RGB fans are nice, BQ ones for example, even the basic Arctic are ok

But the T30 are greyish, don't like that much

Phanteks T30-120 fan, premium high-performance fan, PWM, Black/Grey ...

T30 and other SP fans work well as case fans, as others have said,  unless you choose fans that are very noisy and that bothers you. Also, as @freeagentpointed out, they are the best option but not required unless you want to make sure your PC is always cooler and performing better, or you are overclocking and such.

If the intake area is minimally restricted, an AF fan will be fine.

As for colorful fans, @PDifolco is correct that there are non-LED fans that are attractive. I'm on vacation, but I can name a few when I'm home again.

ARGB won't make your fans work any better, but if you want colorful lights, they're the best option, but consume more power.

We can't really give you precise advice without knowing your setup, country and budget.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂
