Corsair CX430M, is it enough?

Walter H.W.
Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

I wouldn't do it, it's not enough if you're overclocking and with alot of fans.

Get a 500watts atleast ( I could be wrong but this is my thought ).

he's not even drawing 400w he'll be good even with some Oc

The system would barely hit ~200w at load.

I just remembered that I've a sound card, a Creative something, shouldn't draw too much anyway.

Any ideas for a cheap 500W modular PSU?

I need it modular because the case will be a mess with the few cable management space there is.

The cx430 is fine.

Hello guys,

I'm planning on building a PC:

CPU: AMD FX-6300

MoBo: MSI 970A-G43

RAM: Kingston Technology Fury Memory White PC-15000 1866MHz (1x8GB)

Cooler: Cooler Master hyper TX3 EVO (2x92mm fans)

GPU: AMD R7 265.

Case: Zalman Z3 Plus (the case can mount up to 5 120mm fans and I'd put them all)

HDD: Western Digital  1TB + Samsung 500GB

Will that PSU be enough for such build?

I'm afraid not but it's the cheapest modular PSU I could find..

I am the one who knocks.

It's fine but to be a little more feature proof I would get a 500w but this thing is fine for you setup and a good OC.

no you will be fine even with the sound card. The semi-modular design should be fine for you, but if you want modular this would be the cheapest modular 500w I would trust http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=56220&vpn=ST50F%2DP&manufacture=Silverstone%20Technology

Corsair CX500M?

Sorry to say but also that would be more expensive..

The only other solution would be a non modular PSU but with the case I'm going to buy it seems like a bad solution.

Guys,

I decided to change the CPU to a FX-6300 (95W).

I've been told that it's the same as a FX-6350, I just need to overclock it, which shouldn't make it drew more power than a 125W CPU.

This is the best PSU that is semi-modular it come at a very competitive price and is MUCH better quality than the corsair CX (wich is really mediocre)

http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-m12ii520bronze

This one will last you a long time and will output the 500W labeled on it, not like the CX 430 that can effectively output only around 300W ...

EDIT: If you can't afford this unit it's okay to go with the corsair CX it should be sufficient for your build too...it might just not last 10 or 15 years like this one...but it will work, i understand that you are on a budget and core parts like CPU, RAM and GPU are more important than PSU for a budget build, i just wanted to suggest something better in case you would like to get it...take it as a suggestion.

indeed, 2 units from the top tier PSU, the seasonic is rated for 70 more watts, also i know for a fact that the customer service is top notch from seasonic, that's the reason i picked this one...but yes the capstone is also very appealing at this price point...but the OP will stick with the CX it's more within his budget and i respect that, it will be good enough for this build he plans.

Hey, sorry to bother you people again but I begin to doubt that this PSU will be enough, I've decided to get a R7 265 and I saw that it can pull up to 266 Watts at peak..

At this point i doubt that the 430W (if they are really that much) will be enough for the build.

Help me fast please because I've already ordered the CM430M and I need to change the order, luckily it's Saturday and they shouldn't be sending it already.

My only other choice is a CX500M, will that be enough?
