7900 XT & XTX too much power consumption?

Guanzo

I tried to change my old chard and buy a new one I saw benchmarks on YT, 7900 XT and XTX draws too much power, why? I don't want to buy nvidia I dislike their monopolism.

that was at their launch when their drivers hadn't yet been that good. Now they're power consumption should be on par

High end cards draw a lot of power.  It's a thing.

Thing is, the Max numbers you see in benchmarks are rarely what you'll see in real life.

I just installed a 7900XT and it's running great!  1440p max settings in FFXIV I'm sitting well under 300W

they were talking about the high power during just normal use. It should be fixed now though (since like februrary)

I was looking for comparisions in YT. I saw 7900 XT and XTX uses too much power compared to 4070ti and 4080. Why?

I want to buy Nvidia for energy saving.

Energy efficiency can be a real problem nowadays, depending where you live. I can't give you an explicit advice for these graphicscards but maybe you could look up a chart for watts/frame which can be a really nice indicator for your use. Of course it will come down to your daily use.

Cheers

Why?

Because they managed to make their architecture more energy efficient.

Just keep in mind that it can take a long time before the energy saved by going with a more energy efficient card offsets its higher starting price. Unless you keep the card running under full load 24/7 the difference in idle power consumption is going to be more important.

I get the same feeling. I REALLY wanted to choose AMD or Intel next time - to stick it to the green mean machine so to speak - but that 4070 just looks so tempting with only 200w compared to the other big cards. I'll hold out till the 7600 xt drops though. The smaller cards may still hold a surprise compared to the flagships made for maximum performance.

mITX is awesome! I regret nothing (apart from when picking parts or have to do maintainance *cough*cough*)
