do you keep boxes

Thebman712

I do keep my boxes, my wife doesn't understand but I store them all in my closet. Most of the time they are not needed, often I will put the receipt for that item in with the original box it came in.

Only until my dogs pee on them

And so GabeN has told us to march forthith unto the Land of Holy welding our swords of mice, shields of keyboards, and helmets of Oculus Rifts where we shall reclaim it-which is rightfully ours-from the PUNY Console Peasants from whom armed only with mere controllers we shall decimate in all forms of battle and we shall dominate even in their most ridiculous tradition and infatuation of CoD. Yes, my brothers- sisters and trans sexuals too- we shall destroy the inferior of races with our might and majesty. And if any Peasants wish to join us they must speak now or forever perish. -Ancient Speech from a Leader of Old, Book of Murratri section 2

i will keep the box's of expensive hardware for as long as the warranty is valid. I usually throw out the boxes for things like fans or cables though.

Yes, especially after building a PC. In case something doesn't work right. Like my dick.

Your dick doesn't work right? What could possibly go wrong with a dick? Does it spontaneously combust or something?

Yes, I tend to keep boxes for motherboards, GPU's, ram packs, ssd's, PSU's, CPU's, etc because when I replace something I have a proper way to store it.

I keep my boxes for about a month, because of paranoia about them breaking. After that month I cut them up and shove them in a closet. You know, for when I need something to paint on top of or something.

Yes. especially the case box. Sure, it's huge but it's the perfect way to transport the computer as well.

Yep, i keep all the boxes. I even have the box my case came in still, and its storing most of the boxes for my first build. And my desk now has a half of it filled up with boxes from newer stuff. I just like having them. It's just cool to keep them, to see what you have. And I'm the kind of person who keeps things like that. I also keep soda cans if they look cool.

Only the psu box to throw all the left screws and cables in it. Or all the hdd brackets I don't need. And write the name of the pc on the back as a reminder. Rest goes to trash.

Bye LTT. That was an interesting journey on this board. At least here you see how not to do it. I'll go shaking my head about this place.

Yes, I keep them for a while. I guess just for the happyness it gives me, just by looking at it. Because once it is in the PC, it's not the same than looking at the amount of boxes.

Also, it can be usefull for later on, like if you move or whatever.

Once you have to RMA/return something, the thought of throwing out a box causes mental anguish from then on.

I keep boxes. A month later, I have no clue where they are anyway, since...well, I keep them, but I don't have something like a shelf for old boxes or something like that. So, long story short, I keep 'em but I don't really know where they are anyway(And have to search in case I need them).

The only reason I keep them is because you never know when you'll need a box. Tech boxes usually have a lot of space in them, whether it's for a mouse or for a new tower. They offer a lot of space and it makes it easy to store things in, especially if you move said things around a lot.

Not all but some.
I still have nearly all of my Razer packaging (maybe cause it's some sexy packaging), I have the box and hard foam my 27" monitor came in, 5 motherboard boxes full of various bits & pieces belonging to systems (old and current) that are around the house, modem boxes, router boxes and one lonely little PSU box cause it's a handy size.

I try to keep most boxes for the tech things I actually care for, all the stuff from my recent build I have in a closet somewhere.  I'm pretty sure at some point my wife is going to guilt me into throwing them away.  She just doesn't understand the desire to keep them and calls me a hoarder haha.

I always keep my boxes because A) I can have it in case I need warranty info or need to do a return b) because some boxes are so nice (Razer Naga Epic) that you could actually display them
