Need to clean my monitor.

HesCalledTheStig

I have a Philips 24in IPS monitor that my daughter somehow got greasy finger prints all over. What is the best way to clean it without doing any damage to it.  I was told to definitely not use isopropyl alcohol on it. Thanks!

Water and microfiber cloth.

Water won’t scratch it?  I know sometimes there is really fine minerals in it.

As long as you’re not using one of these, you’ll be fine. Bonus points for using just the tiniest amount of dish soap.

Hmm, if only there was a youtube short from a certain canaydian technology enthusiast's channel that demonstrates the best way to clean a monitor using distilled water and a micro-fiber cloth...

If only...

Well crap. I couldn’t find my buffer so I opted for the orbital sander instead. I figured 80 grit would be ideal.

All joking aside. I’ll just use some distilled water. I just wasn’t sure if it would cut through the grease. Id like to know what she had on her fingers 😖

Washing up liquid (dish detergent), warm water and microfibre cloth is all you really need. Dry with a seperate cloth so you don't re add grease and smear it round when drying.

But if you need a reason, my only internet connection at the moment is my cell phone and I don’t have a huge amount of data. A forum post uses a lot less data than watching YouTube. Once this snowstorm is over and my cable is back on, I will be sure to watch said video.

Sorry, didn't mean to come off as a smart-ass, just saying it's a coincidence they uploaded a short showing how to do it a few days ago

I’ll give this a try. Thanks.

yup water will make micro scratches, but if you use a good / clean microfiber cloth its not too bad.

personally i use a mix of distilled water, some kind of cleaning agent and isopropyl (premixed) its really good, cleans nice and fast (its called Blum, German manufacturer not sure if available elsewhere)
