My case has two USB 3.0 cables but my motherboard has only one header for it.

You could get a PCIe add-in card with an internal usb 3.0 header on it

Something like this https://www.startech.com/en-gb/cards-adapters/pexusb3s2ei

It will require a PCIe slot and SATA power

I'm thinking of a splitter but I don't want to decrease the speeds by doing so. What should I do if I want all of my front usb ports to work. Right now, only 2 out of 4 are working since I'm using the one USB 3.0 header. I found a cheap one from amazon but I don't know if I can trust it.

I might be experienced, but I'm human and I do make mistakes. Expand for common PC building advice, a short bio and a list of my components and other tech. I edit my messages after sending them alot, please refresh before posting your reply. Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

You could get an adapter that converts a usb 2.0 header to a usb 3.0 header, making the two usb ports work on your case but at usb 2.0 speeds (480 mbps).

Example: https://www.amazon.com/Duttek-2-pack-Motherboard-Adapter-Converter/dp/B072ZV1566/

You could get an internal USB 3  hub, which would plug into the usb 3.0 header on the motherboard and create more usb 3.0 ports ( ex header on motherboard has 2  usb 3 5 gbps ports - each of these two ports goes to a hub chip which in turn creates 3 or more usb 3 5 gbps ports

Example : https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Internal-USB-Splitter-HB-INTS/dp/B08Y3GG82F/

( 2 usb ports in from the header ,  each port goes to a hub chip which creates 4 ports - hub 1 goes to the 2 usb 3 type a + 1 header with 2 ports,  hub 2 chip goes to 2 usb headers with 2 ports each)

You could get an extension cable and somehow route the cable to go to the back of your case and plug into 2 regular usb 3 ports on the IO shield.

I love that idea! I found a few that will work perfectly for me. I have no idea why I didn't think of that before. Thanks 🙂

What would that do? He only has one physical header on the motherboard...
