Placement of top fans

Go to solution Solved by Ralfi,

Do you want to use both up there? I don’t think there’s a need for two when you’ve got a mesh front panel with 3 intakes, unless you live in a hot climate, then you could add the top-front as an intake to help cool your CPU & push the GPU exhaust air away from potentially compromising the airflow entering the CPU HSF.

The one that’ll help the most is 1 exhaust fan in the top-rear.

But you can add a second in various positions/directions & see if it makes a difference in temps.

I just think 1 top-rear is all most people would need, especially if you have a hefty CPU cooler (going off pics).

Hello,

I have a question regarding where to place the top mounted fans.

For reference I have the NZXT H7 Flow case.

3x 140mm Fans in the front as intake

1x 140mm Fan in the rear as exhaust.

For CPU cooling I have the Noctua NH-D15.

The case supports either 2x 140mm or 3x 120mm top mounted fans.

I have 2 additional 140mm fans I was planning to mount on the top and use as exhaust as well.

But I'm not sure where to exactly place them and was hoping to get some advice.

The way I see it I have 3 options:

1. Place them towards the back of the case

2. Place them towards the middle of the case

3. Place them towards the front of the case, but my concern with this option is that this will disrupt the intake from the front and feed less air to the CPU cooler.

I drew up a quick sketch in Paint for easier reference. Sorry it looks kind of scuffed and the proportions are a bit off.

If it makes a difference I also have a RTX 3080 mounted in the "regular way"

All input is appreciated!

Thanks :)
