Man luring kids (to rape them) via LoL and Minecraft

Seattle man Andrew Hartung, 34, is facing charges of sexually exploiting a 12 year-old boy - and is also suspected of "soliciting nude photos from other young boys" - using two of the world's biggest video games.

Hartung - who has previously been convicted of possessing a child pornography collection - befriended the boy across both Minecraft and League of Legends, but detectives have identified at least two other boys he had been communicating with across the games as well.

Having sent him gifts, Hartung is accused of then trying to arrange to meet the boy in Colorado. 

The boy thought he had met a new "best friend", until action by another boy's parents revealed who Hartung really was. 

Hartung was required by law to declare his prior sex offender conviction, but had failed to do so and had been living "without registration" since 2002.

"Since that time, the defendant has groomed children across state lines via the Internet enticing them with expensive gifts, electronics, money and cigarettes in exchange for photographs of their genitals," Senior Deputy Prosecutor Cecelia Gregson says.

"Of note," she adds, "[Hartung] was residing in an apartment complex brimming with children – one he would not likely have been able to reside at if he had complied with his obligation to register as a sex offender."

So...yeah.

Pedophiles luring kids online isn't something new,but what's more surprising is that this guy had been living without registration since 2002,that's 12 years!A pedophile which had porn tapes with kids had lived without a problem for 12 years,and nobody knew.

Parents should teach kids how the Internet works and that there are bad persons in this world.

I have never had a webcam because I really don't need one.I mean,unless you're Skyping(or whatever),what's the point of it?

Exactly. But sadly (I guess?) every laptop has one. So it's inevitable. Especially when the market favours laptops over desktops. Even then, I don't skype with webcam. I just voice call or IM.

Oh,well I changed my laptop's webcam drivers so when I use it,instead it shows my desktop(I was showing some friends how to do some stuff).

This is why I got mad when I used to hear 6-year olds cursing on xbox-live, because it's obvious that their parents just sat them down with an xbox on their 6th birthday and said "good luck figuring out the internet, mommy's got a headache, I'll be on the other side of the house not monitoring you at all." This is what happens when you don't either teach your children how to behave on the internet, or watch what they do. When I was a kid, it was RULE NUMBER 1 NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION TO STRANGERS ON THE INTERNET. Obviously these kids didn't know that, as he was able to send them gifts and things.
