13900k or 7950x for gaming+workload

What is the best CPU for such thing? 

Let's say your primarly thing is rendering, UE5, modeling and gaming on the side. and you dont care about power draw. 

 

I saw Intel performs better in blender

but i was thinking of going with AMD if im gonna upgrade it later on with newer Radeon card, currently with nvidia rtx 3000 series

Would it be bad to wait for AMD new cards for infinity fabric later on? 

 

Also, is paying 100$ more for DDR5 CAS30 instead of CAS40 worth it? @6000mhz

Don't know much about DDR5, but I think both the 13900k and the 7950X should work more than fine. Pretty much it would come down to how good of a deal you can get.

Need to check on benchmarks but I dont think Radeon cards gain that much on AMD platform to justify the CPU disadvantage.

If it is CAS30 then sure it is, but is it actually CAS 36? I dont think they sell CAS 30 yet, it's difficult even for custom tuning in a normal home

right now the 5800x3d is the beast you are looking for not the ones you listed. Going by what comparison charts I've seen of the 5800x 3d vs Intel 13th gen

This will top dog change with the 7000x 3d when that gets released and then the next gen 15000 series with Intel maybe?

 

But as some programs need cares rather than raw speed, then the CPU with most cores going to win.

 

I'd suggest going with the AMD 7000 series because a slot that holds 3 generations of CPU going to be more future proof than Intel who will only support 2 gens.

oh yes 100%. But 8 cores is too little for what I need. 

but basically, I'd go AMD if i knew they'd release 3D cache CPU like 7950x instead of just 8c cpu. it'd be easy to upgrade tbh. that's the only way i'd consider amd, because i dont really care about different sockets, at the end of the day it's easy to swap new mobo in and resell the other. so here shouldnt be much problem.

Grab the 7950x and don’t look back the ecores are good for multi tasking but 16 big ass cores are better for rendering and multithreaded workloads 

 

cas latency will matter more for gaming but only a little

I consider e cores as 2 cores to be one true core. so at the end it is the same, efficiency is also a gimmick. which means it's same 16c as amd imo.

RGT just leaked 3 hours ago there will only be a 7600x 3D and a 7700x 3D 😞

So looks like the 7950x for the upgrade path to 8950 and perhaps a 9950? or sell a few organ parts and get a 96 core Zen 4 Thread Ripper lol

I wouldn't view them as like full cores in any way. More like trivia background core that can handle work/apps that doesn't require a full core, like most of the Windows spy ware

ye i saw that is quite sad actually. it's more like gaming oriented chip first and foremost. 

What motherboard would you recommend or a few of them? for amd's 7950x

Only go for Intel if you have an Intel currently and looking for an upgrade. It makes no sense spending a lot of money to build a new PC on a dead platform.

 

And you just missed the Microcenter deals that just ended yesterday. They were giving out free DDR5-6000 RAM + a $50 discount on motherboard with the Ryzen 7000 CPU.

Perhaps someone else can name one, but I'd be looking for  

well known named brands like ASUS or MSI offf the top of my head

more than one NVME socket Gen 4 or 5 on the board

other features I know I'd use for games like 5.1 sound output

Then honestly, I'd read reviews on the web of regarding the boards I might have narrowed my choices down to

Like i've asked because i already know what i will be picking off, but dont know if there is anything i've missed per-say. So Asus ROG Hero which is like 800$

Sadly it's expensive af, but it has virtually everything other than the most power phases on that chipset. But more than enough to handle high end cpu. 

 

As for NVMe almost every board offers at least 2 slots. 

 

5.1 output hmm maybe, what i'd look here is just how good the audio chip on the mobo is, if you dont have dedicated audio card already which is better. 

More layer PCB on motherboard the lesser interferance on a studio monitors. 

 

But ye anyway, the looks, the power phases, connectors, bios cmos buttons, error code display, are super handy, but on previous gens were 2-3x cheaper lmao. 

And I'd argue that Asus has the easiest BIOS to understand out of the box.
