How to make Bootloader work from main drive and not newly installed drive?

Filingo

I currently have an NVME drive with Windows 11 installed on it which is the main drive.

Previously I added another SATA SSD and installed Windows 10 on it.

What happened was that the Windows 11 bootloader was corrupted and after disconnecting the SATA SSD I could no longer boot into the main drive, so I ended up fixing it using Method 2 in this article: https://www.wintips.org/fix-a-required-device-isnt-connected-or-cant-be-accessed-0x000000e-on-windows-10-8-8-1/

But now I want to try it again, but make the bootloader ( the window on startup that let's you choose between the OS's ) be on the main drive.

Last time it just did that automatically after I installed Windows 10 on the SATA drive so I am not sure how to manually make it not install the bootloader from the secondary drive

Thanks

OK, so if I'm getting this right.

You can disconnect the SATA SSD. Then install windows on your NVME drive... that would mean though that there is a bootloader on each drive, and you would set one of them to be your boot drive in the bios/uefi. That would mean by default it would boot into that drive unless told otherwise. If you wanted to boot into the other drive you could hit F11 during POST to choose the other drive to boot.

thanks, I installed again the SATA and again it overridden the NVME 😂😅

But next time I will fix it and do what you said - disconnect the NVME and do it
