AlienWare is forbidden here.. I would go for the Razer if you have to choose one of the two but MSI has also very high quality 'gaming' laptops.

alienware is from DELL

LIKE ALL THE SHITTY SCHOOL COMPUTERS

the blade pro is what i would personally buy, although its not cheap

you pay for the design tho, not specs

you can get an ASUS ROG gaming laptop for half the price with much better specs, but i really like how the blade looks

if you care more about performance rather than looks, get the ROG

it still looks pretty cool, but its not as thin

NEW PC build: Blank Heaven   minimalist white and black PC     Old S340 build log "White Heaven"        The "LIGHTCANON" flashlight build log        Project AntiRoll (prototype)        Custom speaker project

whats wrong with asus?

all my stuff from them works perfectly with a ton of features

and i get 1260MHz on my 770

on the other hand, dell computers are the most unupgradeable shit in the PC market

with proprietary parts, cheap components from china, and high prices

their WS mobos are great

nono i mean asus as a company, their customer service is pathetic, ive had a horrid experience with them multiple times and i have an army of people that agree and have also had bad moments with them, then they make stupid decisions and you might notice especially on their z87 boards, the heatsinks are waaay smaller. their ws boards however are bloody awesome.

I might be a bit biased because I own an Alienware X51, but don't get me wrong here. Alienware is not bad -- it's just over priced. As for the OP, you can customize the AW 18 more, so that means that you can probably fit a stronger system in that laptop.

What option are you going to buy? The AW 18 with CFX M290X graphics card is slightly more expensive than $2500, and it's more powerful than the Blade.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I'd go with the Alienware. Hear me out before you hate me!!! An Alienware laptop is as upgradable as a desktop. You can switch out the CPU, GPU, RAM, and Hard Drives. So instead of having to keep buying laptops to play on ultra, you just go on Ebay and buy a 880m or whatever. And with the newer Alienware, they got a 5.0GHz Overclock and it was stable.

You could always check out Falcon Northwest as well. For the price of those two laptops you're practically at Falcon NW price.

just thought you should know my system is a dell insprion, no im not proud but its the result of my father not believing that i could build a pc, i reached a breaking point and upgraded the shit out of it and now i am the current leader for having the most powerful inspiron in the world, i even contacted dell and they said i have the most powerful one, anyways back on topic dell has become a lot more reasonable oem company since they became private, yes building yourself costs less but honestly, if it costs less for a pre made you wouldnt get that anyways, ive run into many systems back when i worked at a pc repair shop, since the death of the dell dimension all of dells stuff is normal, if you opened it up it would look normal, on the topic of cheap my pc came with a 300w 80+ gold psu, not bad for a £300 desktop.

Back to asus, their products are awesome, dont get me wrong, its when they stop working, thats when the problems start to occur, asus will do everything in their power to refuse a RMA, i sort of found a loophole thanks to my former boss, they will refuse an rma but if you threaten legal action then they give in straight away.

Actually now thinking about it asus have a lot weirder boards then dell, i remember seeing a few boards where the pci-e and pci lanes were to the right of the cpu and the cpu was at the bottem of the bottem(probably upside down in the case but still dafuq). trust me, i saw hundreds of oem system, i can tell you that dell and asus may have their problems, once you look inside a Hp oem you will want to shoot yourself, the fool which thoguht it would be clever to make atx boards and shove sodimms on them should be killed

I have an M18x R2 (i7 3610qm, dual 7970m in crossfire, 1 ssd and 2 hdd in raid 0,) It is a beast!!

really the choice is

Desktop Replacement - Alienware M18x

Gaming Laptop - Razer blade!!

for the last 2 years the M18x was my main rig and did a fantastic job, it still rocks BF4 on high/ultra at 60fps 1080p, but it is definately a portable desktop, it is heavy, cumbersome and too big for lap use. But for moving around between say office/bedroom/friends house - it works great and is portable enough

the razer blade is an ultra portable gaming machine, not powerful enough to replace a gaming desktop and will have a much shorter life span, but it is SUPER portable and will be a great addition to a static rig at home, and a razer blade as a secondary portable rig

That is my opinon anyway

If you want any info about the M18 I would happily provide (I wish I had the new one :( )

Desktop - Corsair 300r i7 4770k H100i MSI 780ti 16GB Vengeance Pro 2400mhz Crucial MX100 512gb Samsung Evo 250gb 2 TB WD Green, AOC Q2770PQU 1440p 27" monitor Laptop Clevo W110er - 11.6" 768p, i5 3230m, 650m GT 2gb, OCZ vertex 4 256gb,  4gb ram, Server: Fractal Define Mini, MSI Z78-G43, Intel G3220, 8GB Corsair Vengeance, 4x 3tb WD Reds in Raid 10, Phone Oppo Reno 10x 256gb , Camera Sony A7iii

And look into clevo laptops cheaper then both alienware and razor and really powerful using one now. And only cost $1000 and I can even run stable overclock of 40%

While good hardware, Clevo laptops are very barebones. They have so so build quality, so so speakers and awful customer support. Especially compared to Alienware. You definitely get what you pay for spending more on the Alienware laptop. Whether that "more" is worth it to you is another story. I definitely justify my Alienware purchases because of the great customer service and build quality.

As to Alienware vs Razer, its up to what you care about more. The Alienware will unquestionably perform better in games. The Razer is much more portable and will have better battery life.

"Like all the shitty school computers"

Really? School computers tend to be extremely low end versions of that companies line because the school has to buy a metric ton of them. Alienware computers are the high end. You can't even compare the two.

Just sent in my order for a Razer Blade. Chose it over the upcoming MSI GS60 Ghost Pro since I realized the only reason I was holding back was a HDD (hello there, external storage). Goodluck with your choice! The Alienware 18 and the Blade are quite different!

Desktop: ASUS ROG Maximus V Formula - 3570k @ 4.2 Ghz - Gigabyte GTX 670 WF3 - G.Skill 16 GB 1600Mhz - Antec 900W - 128GB Crucial M4 - 2TB Hitachi HDD - NZXT H440

Mobile: Nexus 6P (current)  - Razer Blade 256 GB Laptop
