Summary Quotes Quote These millimeter-sized living machines, entirely contained in a laboratory, easily extinguished, and vetted by federal, state and institutional ethics experts, “are not what keep me awake at night. What presents risk is the next pandemic; accelerating ecosystem damage from pollution; intensifying threats from climate change,” says UVM’s Bongard. “This is an ideal system in which to study self-replicating systems. We have a moral imperative to understand the conditions under which we can control it, direct it, douse it, exaggerate it.” Quote My thoughts This is so cool. I am interested in everyone's thoughts. Posted July 6, 2022 Is it self replicating? The small clips make it seem random and they don't show much. The big question is if there's actually information being passed on.

Posted July 7, 2022 I just breezed through the paper. Interesting read which clarifies what they accomplished. They squished and chopped the shperoids into the shape that was theoretically the best out of 50 "ai" designs and simulations. Then had them pile up other cells of the same type into the next generation. The actual product ran out of energy and ceased after first or second round. Personally, I think it's a very slippery slope.

Without genetically engineered food, billions of people would die. Without bio engineering we’d have no clean water. Stem cells, gene therapy and the like have saved countless lives… the list could go on for pages. Posted July 7, 2022 -> Moved to General Discussion It seems we need to make definition of the term "news". This article is 6 months old already. News would be something within last week. Maybe two. Also, your personal opinion and summary are not within what guidelines intend. Those two parts are your chance to show that you have actually read (and understood) what the articles are about. ^^^^ That's my post ^^^^ <-- This is me --- That's your scrollbar --> vvvv Who's there? vvvv
