What is better? Ryzen 6900HS and RTX 3060 120w TDP vs Ryzen 5900HS and RTX 3080 at 80w-100w TDP

Hi guys, I am currently choosing between two laptops that have these specs:

Ryzen 6900HS and RTX 3060 120w TDP

vs.

Ryzen 5900HS and RTX 3080 at 80w-100w TDP

What is the better choice in terms of gaming performance?

Thank you in advance for any replies.

3080 will game 100-150% faster than 3060.

on the other hand the cpu is only 20% faster.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

The 3080 should be the much faster GPU, given whether it has adequate cooling in that laptop. GPU generally has a much greater impact on gaming performance, so it should be the much better choice.

3080 with 80-100 Watt will NOT be twice as fast as a 120w 3060.

At best, the lower Wattage can be countered with a higher Shadercount, but i don't see the 3080 be faster than maybe 20-30%?

If it were a 165w max-TDP 3080, it would be an entirely different story.

But still, the "bigger Chip" at a similar TDP, is faster.

I've had a Desktop GTX 1060 MSI Gaming X, that consumed 140 Watt @ Stock, and upgraded to a GTX 1080 MSI Gaming X. Same model, bigger Chip.

i undervolted the GTX 1080 pretty hard down to 140 watt (215w~ @ Stock), and it was still much stronger than the 1060 was at the same Power consumption.

Still, a 80w RTX 3080 will not be much faster than a 120w GTX 1060.

But you really have to tell us which Laptops they are, otherwise we can only guess how fast it will be in the end.

Aside from the TDP, the Laptop's Cooling System is also important for that.
