Hey

I'm planning on getting a custom build for my first pc and realized my motherboard doesn't have a wifi card.

I'm too far away from my router to have a wired connection.

Do you guys know any good adapters / alternate motherboards with a wifi card that I should be getting?

Link to the full build: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/H28Rv3

Link to the motherboard: https://au.pcpartpicker.com/product/KKbTwP/msi-pro-b660m-a-ddr4-micro-atx-lga1700-motherboard-pro-b660m-a-ddr4

My budget is under $2500 AUD

Thanks

I know this is pushing it, if you keep an eye out for sales you can stay under with 32gbs of ram and a better CPU.

why not just get one of those intel ax201 (or similar) wifi cards instead of getting a dedicated "wifi mobo". getting a separate module is often cheaper and you get full control of what exact mobo you want.

AX200, the AX201 is the CNVIo variant that requires a supported M.2 socket.  Or the AX210 for WiFi6e.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

because it gets in the way of the GPU, most motherboards no longer have a slot above the X16 slot since there is m.2 now.

This is a real issue on the cheaper MATX boards.

Indeed I guess it would be with 3 slot GPUs now, and who knows what the 4080 is going to be.

I ended up using an M.2 to PCIe adapter to add a 10Gbit card into an ITX board.
