Can someone please help? This is very urgent !!! ”Enter a password to unlock the disk "macOS Base System".

I have a 2019 macbook air and i think the Catalina is installed on it. It was working fine until today morning.

i turned it on 15 mins back and it froze. I restarted it and it shows me this error. What do i do? Can someone please help? I dont wanna lose my data

Dear @Mayank Dhingra,

 

according to a quick Google search the dialogue appears, beacuse the file system is encrypted by Apple's FileVault. Entering your laptop login password should get you past this screen.

It is the osx base system firmware password. It can be overridden from the Mac OS command line.
