Upgrading from S7

Shlouski

Hey Guys.

My S7 died on me recently so I'm looking for a replacement, I don't know all that much about smartphones so I'm hoping to get some help. I really only use my phone to surf the internet and watching videos, but I do want to have a good camera and this is the most important thing to me.

Can you recommend a phone with a great camera?

My budget is flexible, all depends on whether I feel a phone is worth the price when compared to others, I can't get google phones in my area and I'm not interested in apple products.

I don't know if they still sell s20's but I've been pretty happy with it so far. Honestly, I'd get a phone that is ~1 year old, like last years model. They often offer deep discounts...IMO, new phones are way overpriced for the minimal added benefits.

Are OnePlus phones available to you? What would be the budget, the 200$ range, the 500$ range or the 1000$ range?

Unfortunately no.

The best place for me is a site called pccomponentes.com as they ship to my island from mainland Spain, they usually have much better deals and options than what is available here.

Budget really depends on comparative performance, but I was looking at the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G 256GB which is around 1200 euros.

Where to Buy - OnePlus - OnePlus (Global)

Spain isn't listed

I know for a fact that you can order it online from Spain just as from the rest of the EU.

What I'm wonderin now is, where and how did you find that list of Asian and Eurasian store locations; if you're from Spain that makes no sense. You're in Europe.

I'm also European and this OP9 is my second OnePlus, both were purchased from OnePlus, the first was shipped from Poland and the second Germany.

I have now somehow managed to get Spain as my location of their site, but my region Santa Cruz de Tenerife isn't listed.

I have been comparing the samsung phones as they are easy to get here. From what I understand the camera on the s22 and s22 plus are the same, so I watched camera comparisons of the s22 and s22 ultra, I really don't think the s22 ultra is worth the extra money in terms of just the camera performance. I also watch camera comparisons of the s21 fe and s22, and the s22 is only very slightly better IMO.

Right now the s21 fe 8gb 256gb has a 21% discount and includes a Galaxy TAB A8 10.5 in the price, the s22 8gb 256gb is 70 euros more expensive and doesn't come with a Galaxy TAB A8 10.5.

The S21 FE might do the trick. Many folks say they want a good camera, but I think some misinterpret that as meaning "I want the best and I'm willing to pay for it." There are many people, and I believe you're one of them, that just want consistently good photos and don't need a telephoto lens, super-high-resolution sensors or similar more exotic features. That's where the S21 FE, regular S22 models, the iPhone 13, the Pixel 6 and similar phones come in. You can generally trust that they'll take good photos, but they don't saddle you with more camera features than most people typically need.

That pretty much sums it up.

The last time I shopped for a phone was back in 2016 and as I don't have much of an interest in phones I had no idea how things have been progressing, for all I knew the cameras on the s21 models were terrible and the camera s22 ultra was amazing in comparison, I see this is not the case. I could buy an s22 ultra, but considering I don't want or need much from a phone other than a decent camera, I think the s22 ultra would be a waste of money.
