M.2 SSD USB adapter not booting on Macbook

I bought the sabrent m.2 ssd usb adapter to boot into my m.2 ssd via my mac but its not booting or even showing up as an option to boot.

If the drive is formatted ntfs there may be issues.  The only thing that is cross play for for apple and PC is exfat.  (And fat too if the drive is small)

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
