RAID on slightly different drives

For RAID 1 could I use a 1tb 3.5" Toshiba HDD and a Seagate 1tb 2.5" SSHD? Wondering if the difference in the drive mechanism will cause any major issues. Picking my two quietest large drives that I already own. The Seagate is SMR, don't know about the Toshiba. Both of them are pulled from recycled computers, however, and have many bad sectors so I'd rather not have a failed drive knock out all the files I have on that machine. 

Also, the computer's BIOS does not have any RAID functionality AFAIK. Never used Microsoft Storage Spaces (this is Windows 10 Pro 20H2), is that a decent alternative? I'd be mounting one of the drives (or if it groups the drives into a single volume, the volume) as a network drive also.

Old SSHD are quiet prone to sudden failure. 
SSHD with SMR!?  I can't predict the performance, so you have to make it, and see for yourself if it's worth it.
For the RAID 1, Windows 10 Pro have normal GUI function for it in disk management, it create dynamic disk with mirroring from them.

Just do know that in case of failure, the data is not accessible, without undoing the mirror from disk management

So... basically if I boot from that RAID volume then I can't boot into Windows if a drive fails? That's an interesting approach, Microsoft...

I may just buy a used 1tb similar Toshiba HDD since I've read a lot about those SSHDs not being great.

ehh you didn't say it's for boot-ing Windows. That won't work for windows boot drives, if I remember correctly.
Can't you just do daily a backup of entire disk (or system partitions) with veeam ?

I could, I'm booting off of another 80gb HDD but was thinking of booting from the RAID. I'll keep it just for data though, thanks for your help!
