Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake 4.2 GHz with 30xx nvidia?

Would this setup work? 

 

I have an old system with the following
Intel Core i7-7700K Kaby Lake 4.2 GHz LGA 1151

G.Skill Trident Z 16GB 2 x 8GB DDR4-3200 PC4-25600 CL16

ASUS Z270 ROG MAXIMUS IX HERO LGA 1151 ATX Intel Motherboard

 

i need a new power supply.

Why wouldnt it work? PCIe is backwards compatible on both ends.

yes it would work, but

 

depending on the motherboard, you can do a free or really cheap upgrade, i7 7700k's + motherboards goes for way too much. you can sell those togther and get maybe a i5 12400f + b660 motherboard.

i see, it depends on what your using it for, for gaming it shouldnt bottleneck too hard, but it does preform similar to an i3 10100.

oof, you spent way too much on a motherboard loool, 

 

depending if you want to spend more money or no money on an upgrade you can get either a 12400/12600k or a 10400.
