If you were to be locked up for 1000 years and were allowed to only take one video game, which would you choose?

Wictorian

Obviously that means no aging and you can’t take anything else. Basically the question is which video game offers the most content, potentially could keep you busy for 1000 years. Initially I thought I would choose my favorite game which is Don’t Starve but I figured it doesn’t have enough content so this is kinda tricky.

Unless you are into eggwars stuff or weird mods I don’t think Minecraft survival mode has that much content.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla, since it takes a 1000 years to complete, anyways. 😉

Seriously, though, I think it would probably be something like Mass Effect Legendary Edition, as there's lots of replayability, and you get to technically cheat by getting three games in one. You could actually go through every possible variation of outcomes, and try out all the different classes. A lot of times, I just make the same decisions for expediancy and because I know the "right" choice.

I'd say it should be a sandbox game without much of a story. Story would just get old and annoying the more you play the game. And obviously no pre-made levels because after playing the game 3 times you know every corner in and out. Preferrably also including multiplayer to keep it fresh. And as much randomness as possible.

So i'd say Minecraft would probably be close to the ideal candidate.

Another one - and probably my choice - would be Skyrim. This game offers literally endless replayability due to it's modding support. New content, up-to-date graphics, etc.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

MMOs would be a great choice, I think.

FFXIV for me. Huge world with a chunky main store, a lot of side stories, absolute craptons of content to go through, gathering, crafting, gambling, minigames...

Wouldn't a consistently developed game kind of break the rules? I mean if the devs are still adding content to it for the next 1000 years, there's always something new to do, presumably.

OP didn't really set any rules. But he did mention internet can be used etc. So any game with modding support or consistent updates has a big leg up.

Also you would consume it way faster playing 24/7

Joke answer: Action 52

Real answer: Probably something like Dreams, because you can make your own games in it and play ones made by others.

Ryzen 1600x @4GHz

Asus GTX 1070 8GB @1900MHz

16 GB HyperX DDR4 @3000MHz

Asus Prime X370 Pro

Samsung 860 EVO 500GB

Noctua NH-U14S

Seasonic M12II 620W

+ four different mechanical drives.

Either of two options:
Titan Quest, or Magic: the Gathering Online. The second one would assume it still gets regular updates when new sets come out; if not, TQ.

Are you talking about Don’t Starve? If so mods don’t add much content and although updates and dlcs are frequent I don’t think it can be adequate for constant playing (see the pun?).
