I had this before long while ago and gotten to watch some Movies and TV Shows. At the Time I also had Netflix and Hulu. Now I'm not sure if it is worth for Watching Videos only. But you do save money on Shipping. But at ~$100 a Year for both? Well it ends up being then Cable TV and you can watch Movies/Shows when you watch them.

However I'm not sure if it worth it for free shipping alone. What do you guys think?

For me, it's worth it. I order most things through Amazon, and the shipping costs I'd otherwise would have paid easily exceed what I pay yearly.

The thing of suspect value is Prime Video. Of all the streaming services I subscribe to, it's the one I use the least. There's a few shows worth watching, like the Expanse, but overall the content is just average otherwise.

I've had shipping to Alaska cost $60 for smaller items without Prime. For me, it's well worth it. I usually save money just on shipping by this time in the year.

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

I will find your mentions of Ikea or Gnome and I will /s post.

I hate ask what it would cost to ship to the Hawaii Islands... Hundreds?

I'm a parent, the subscribe and save costs on household items alone makes it worth it for me, let alone shipping  and other benefits. I honestly make no use of the other benefits though

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

Netflix's Streaming service works better in IMHO. I check on something or take a dump, Prime Video doesn't always restart. Netflix does.

heck yeah, music, shows, ocassional free kindle books, and occasional free tripple a games plus free 2 days shipping + amazon prime credit cards with 5% cash back on amazon purchases plus a free gift card. get a studnet email and you can have a 50% discount for 4 years. if it includes amazon luna, that would be even sweeter

shipping cost is all i use it for, i have no need for streaming services as i download everything and music i get from pandora or slacker for free already. but that free shipping is well worth it i buy a shitload of stuff off amazon because I'm 2 hours from anywhere so its just easier to buy off amazon, although I do like to support brick and mortar stores so if i need computer parts i take the 3 hr drive to microcenter in Tustin

Not all things on Amazon qualify for the free shipping. And sometimes the items that do might cost more. Honestly thats why I got Prime myself. However, their video selection is getting better. The Expanse was a great show and I did enjoy The Wheel of Time. They have a lord of the rings series that I think will be out some time this year.

So in my opinion between the Free shipping and the video service its worth it.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Well I was going to order a few things today but I reconsidered due wanting some reviews on one item and and the Shipping cost.

Depends on if you'll use it.

When I lived in Silicon Valley I didn't have a car. Having everything dropped off at my door just worked and made life easier.

It's less valuable now that I drive again... but I still enjoy the convenience factor quite a bit.

You see it shouldn’t. Shipping to the UK including customs rarely goes above £20

It's not just free shipping you get, you also get access to Amazon Music, and Prime video. Though of course there still will be items on those services that are locked behind a further paywall. But for the most part you have access to almost everything they offer. So in that sense, there are worse ways to spend~$100.

I have Disney plus solely for the star wars shows.

The last time I had Hulu it was only  $5 a Month. I dropped the service due to having to go to Walmart and put on my Prepaid Debit Card.

For us it absolutely is. We buy all our veggies and fruits at Whole Foods in addition to buying a lot of common items on Amazon. Between Amazon purchases and Whole Foods we got back nearly $700 in 2021 by using the Prime Visa which gives back 5% of purchases. Heck I even got a Corsair commander pro for $55 (normally $75) over the holidays when everyone in the us was sold out, it shipped for free from Australia but took 2 weeks to show up.

Not worth it, imho.

It's rare I order something from Amazon that doesn't qualify for free shipping--due to the purchase amount.  I never would use their streaming service--I even cancelled Netflix when they started cutting content.  Now if you live in some bizarre location where shipping costs would normally be astronomical, and Prime saves you on that cost--go for it.

Of principle though, I was almost on the fence about Prime.  The deal breaker for me was when Amazon would start taking up to 2 weeks TO DELIVER A PACKAGE TO THE SHIPPERS--for non-prime.  I don't mean 2 weeks for delivery.  I mean 2 weeks to even have a tracking number.  At that point, subscribing felt like extortion.

I dislike Bezos in the extreme.  I dislike the mega-corporation that Amazon has become (AWS and all).  I make a point of looking up manufacturers or resellers directly and making every effort to buy from them--outside of Amazon.  And you can't trust the reviews on Amazon; they are usually either downvotes from idiot Karens who don't understand anything, or 5-star shill ratings trying to boost the reviews of a product that is sus.  Plus, why you'd want to utilize Amazon for other services (listed as Prime benefits) is dubious at best.  I don't want them gathering even more metrics on me.

I found quite a few stuff on Amazon that is cheaper then buying at a Store or elsewhere online. My biggest issue is getting to Walmart and putting money on my prepaid debit card.

Can be.  But again, my cart total > amount required for free shipping...and I'm not so impatient that I have to have it arrive a week sooner.

You'll occasionally see ground based delivery bots. Icebox sized things on wheels.

Anything in the air is highly regulated. You'll probably have better luck in Arizona than California.
