Whos picking up a new R9 295x2?

RWT98

Why would I buy them when I can get 2 780/ti's and have much better performance?

If i would want to buy card, i would just buy two 290x's for better prize.

Yes. Better prize :P

I personally have no reason to buy one. If anything, I'll just be adding a second 780 to my system opposed to upgrading to another card entirely

Yup, I also voted No, at least not till price comes down - for another build, that is. I'm sticking with team green fully on this one.

I'll be buying another EVGA GTX 780 once prices come down. Currently, one is doing more than fine!

Depends what resolution your playing at. The 295X2 really only makes sense for 4K gaming (where it outperforms every other dual card solution besides the Titan Z)

CPU: 5930K @ 4.5GHz | GPU: Zotac GTX 980Ti AMP! Extreme edition @ 1503MHz/7400MHz | RAM: 16GB Corsair Dom Plat @ 2667MHz CAS 13 | Motherboard: Asus X99 Sabertooth | Boot Drive: 400GB Intel 750 Series NVMe SSD | PSU: Corsair HX1000i | Monitor: Dell U2713HM 1440p monitor

It's excessive for 1080p, and there aren't any good 4k monitors that don't break the bank.

I use a Lenovo T440: i5 4300U, 8GB RAM, 128GB Samsung 840 Evo, 14" 900p display and an external 23" 1080p passive 3D monitor. Extended 6-cell battery with internal 3-cell. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (I only use open-source software -- haven't paid for a single program yet).

I will not be buying an r9-295x2, but I will probably buy a second r9 290.

I'm not a huge fan of the hybrid type cooler. I would rather just buy two cards and add them to my loop.

I would only buy a 295X2 if I were playing at Ultra4k.  Anything less than Ultra4k, and it is overkill.

If a person gets that card and they are not doing either a high resolution multi-monitor setup or running 4K resolution then they are just wasting their money. Same goes for the Titan Z, except if a person buys that card, they are just stupid regardless of what it is used for.

Sadly, there will be a few people with disposable income that are running at like 1920x1080 resolution that drops 1500 dollars on this card to brag to their friends....sigh...

If I wanted an itx system to play games in 4k with or play on a triple monitor setup, then maybe. But outside of that, dual gpu cards dont make much sense to me from a price to performance standpoint. Two cards in sli/crossfire tend to be cheaper, run cooler, and a little faster.
