Tv mounting drywall to only one stud.

maxime_vhw

So as the title implies i can only attach the mound to one stud. Then i bought toggler anchors for the other bolts. But will this be fine?

So the left side would be mounted into a stud the right side not.

Looking at the supported weights of these anchors all should be fine but everyone always sounds so scared to mount stuff to drywall.

Dont mind my artistic skillset 😄

Kind regards.

Yes, a lot of TV are mounted this way due to the spacing of studs.

Consider the weight of the TV and how its distributing it, most of the weight is pulling down, not out.

Oh man, what I've mounted to the wall with just toggle bolts is just scary. You should be fine 🙂

Because it's the forces on the drywall itself that are the problem and not what the anchors support. The main weakness of drywall are forces perpendicular to it and long lever arms. An anchor might be good for 100 kg, but that doesn't do you much if your wall gives out at 50, which is why mounting on studs is recommended.

Sounds like you should be fine though, from the above comments. The main weaknesses will be forces perpendicular to it (so not a haning TV) and lever arms (so don't mount your TV on a swinging arm).

You could use a small piece of plywood or 2x4 to mount to the studs, then mount to the new sold mounting board. I've done it with several TVs previously.

I've mounted a 72in tv that weighed like 120lbs into one stud with long screws, and then used really good anchors for the rest, the plasterboard was rickety AF but it held for a good 6+ months before moving
