Trying to make pc fit budget. (let me know where i can save some money)

Go to solution Solved by Jonathan Lee,

Two of options to lower price:

1. Switch out 10850k to 10700k, saves ~$100

2. Switch out one 240Hz monitor for a 144hz or 60 hz monitor. You don't really need a high refresh rate secondary monitor cause you don't typically game on it. Realistically though, you won't be hitting above 240 fps with that hardware. Saves ~$180

There are other recommendations I have for the build overall. Here is what I would go with:

PCPartPicker Part List

CPU: Intel Core i9-10850K 3.6 GHz 10-Core Processor  ($443.05 @ Amazon)
CPU Cooler: Corsair iCUE H100i RGB PRO XT 75 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI Z490-A PRO ATX LGA1200 Motherboard  ($170.00 @ Amazon)
Memory: *Silicon Power GAMING 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory  ($89.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Silicon Power P34A80 1 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive  ($94.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card
Case: be quiet! Pure Base 500DX ATX Mid Tower Case  ($99.90 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: *SeaSonic FOCUS 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply  ($90.99 @ Newegg)
Monitor: Acer VG270 Pbiip 27.0" 1920x1080 144 Hz Monitor  ($199.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Acer Nitro VG272 Xbmiipx 27.0" 1920x1080 240 Hz Monitor  ($378.70 @ Amazon)
Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 Wired Gaming Keyboard  ($139.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $1807.59

Changed out the following:

1. Z490 instead of Z590, mainly so you still have the top m.2 slot available for use. Z590 has top m.2 slot disabled when using 10th gen CPU

2. Changed SSD to a more premium m.2 nvme with dram. This should give you better download speeds and overall snappier computer experience. Also consider getting a 2TB drive cause games get pretty big now.

3. Swapped one monitor for a lower refresh rate one. You don't really need both monitors to be high refresh

Another thing to consider is to go with intel 12th gen. A 12700k with a Z690 would be around the same price and faster. It would also give you buttery smooth gaming/streaming experience cause the 4 e cores can take care of all background processes. This will leave 8 p cores to focus on the game = less frame stutters and drops.

Budget (including currency): 1700-1800

Country: UnitedStates

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Streaming, Minecraft, and running most games at good FPS

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qhp67X

Just off the top of my head:

  • Grab some used RAM from eBay, you can usually get it for $65US if you don't mind waiting a bit for a good deal.
  • Cheaper keyboard. The Corsair one honestly isn't spectacular.
  • Consider the 10700F at a $100 savings, or Ryzen 5800x at slightly more, but with a cheaper motherboard.
  • If you really want to save, wait for Black Friday and buy based on what has the deepest discounts.

Honestly though, you've already got a lot of budget parts in there, I don't think there's many places you can save a great deal of money.

Something I'd maybe reconsider is 1080p at 27".
