Age of Empires 4, and multi-GPU issues

Hi,

So I have a system with 3 GPU's not counting the I-gpu in the 6700k. The 3080 ti and the 2 6800 xt cards.

Now my 3080 ti is used for gaming, and when not in use for mining.

The 2 x 6800xt cards are at this point used purely for mining.

Now the display cables are connected directly to my 3080ti and nothing else.

However, AoE 4 seems to want to start on the 6800xt, and not the 3080ti.

I have tried to force the default graphics card to be the 3080, in the graphics setting window (screenshot attached).

But it does not care about that. When the game launches it only wants to work on the 6800 xt.

I have looked around and there does not seem to be a way to change the default card on the system other than this "Graphics Settings" screen. Which appears to do nothing.

Is there somewhere in the windows settings that I can tell it, use this card for video only..

I am stumped. There must be a way to get the game to use the graphics card I want.

3080 in the top slot? Maybe try run the game once without the 6800XTs

Im confused why dont you just have a separate system for the 6800xt for mining? Also Why did you decide to pair a 6700k with a 3080ti? You are leaving a TON of performance on the table, id reccomend you potentially upgrade to a much more modern chipset and game on that while using the 6700k for mining.

I myself was about to suggest this before i read it.  Just build a basic system for mining, u dont need anything CPU heavy as the mining uses the graphics cards that u already have so build a basic ryzen system.

Getting a separate system seems like a luxury at this point in time. I have the one system that needs to get its ROI in first.

I dont really see how its a luxury at this point, you have THREE gpus, each one costs 1000-2000$ each. If you sold one and got a better system for yourself, and just make your 6700k your mining rig youll be fine. But you do you 🙂 To me mining has never made any viable sense $$$ wise with Power cost, Price of the gpus and just how much time it takes to even make your money back on them (at least a year in most  cases to offset the price of the GPU+Electricity costs) and thats if nothing majorly changes.

solution: use the priest to convert the graphics settings

Given people are saying the 6700K is old....just keep that as the mining rig and get a new one for gmaing

Nah, I am at this point mining until the 13k and 6k series of processers come out. At that point I will do a full build out for a gaming computer.

And we will see if mining is worth while at that time.

I have this same issue and was hoping for some inviting help from this forum instead it's a bunch of naysayers telling you how/what to do with your hardware. I hear problems not solutions. Must be troll season.
