The CCNA Certification

🤔 Wasn't sure where to post this thread. For those who know, how valuable is the CCNA certificate and what kind of jobs can I get with it? I have a net+ cert already. Is getting a CCNA worth it? Would it actually give me a better chance at getting this job linked below for instance than a Net+ Cert?

many companies in NA usally rely on Cisco for their infrastructure, so the best bet would be to be employed either by cisco, as a technical support, or in a company as technical support.

The certification alone wouldnt qualify you to be an administrator, but technical support should be well within its reach

i was facing the same question a couple months back, but after numerous interviews with different employers i noted how little they (usually) care about certifications.

all employers i talked to really value general knowledge and an appetite for learning far above a cert of some kind.

Agreed, 100%, experience is far greater than certs and if you have tons of certs and no work experience you either cheated or can't apply that knowledge properly. Some places it helps with certs to get past HR bots but usually it's just a nice to have rather than something that will help you get the job.

🤔 But...is the CCNA considered a higher level cert than Network+? Am I wasting my time taking the courses?

CCNA goes in far more depth and scope than N+. I've taken courses on both. Passed N+ exam easily. Didn't even bother taking the CCNA exams, wouldn't be close to passing it. In both cases it was paid by my previous work so no loss to me.

N+ I'd see as introduction to networking.

CCNA is a much more advanced and in depth course. Do not be put off that it is Cisco, since the basic principles applies to other manufacturers kit, although with different names for various things.

No experience in that part of the IT industry so can't comment on what they might be worth to potential employers.

Yah, it's definitely far more in depth and now covers a much wider range of technologies and topics.

Certs are usually to get through HR or as a tie breaker, which is undeniably valuable.

Yes CCNA is definitely a higher level cert than the Net+. CCNA may be vendor-specific, but it covers a shit-ton of general networking topics. I don't know that I'd call your courses a time waste though, try to glean as much knowledge from them as you can.
