Samsung odyssey G5 vs G7, need help choosing

Orfieus

Having a hard time deciding between the two monitors

1 - G7 is $300 more then the G5

2 - G5 is 3440x1440 vs G7 2560x1440, do you notice those extra pixels with the G5?

3 - How does the G5 compare to the G7 overall? The G5 does have a higher resolution but is the G7 panel batter in some other way (I don't care at all about HDR)? As I said I don't really care about HDR but is paying $300 more for HDR worth it?

4 - Am I getting something else for that extra $300 with the G7 other then HDR and less pixels?

I've recently seen the G5 in real life. It has massive amounts of ghosting. Me owning the G7. It is not worth it for the extra witdth. The 240hz and the almost non existant ghosting on a VA panel as the one on the G7 is way more worth it. It is hard to ever get any other VA monitor other than this panel in the G7.

Also, forgot to mention that the colors are much better since the G7 is QLED whilst the G5 isn't I think.

Personally, I'd avoid both. The G5 is frankly crap. There's many far better monitors available at the same price. Despite the similar name, it doesn't share anything with it's G7 and G9 brethren. The G7 is overall a really good monitor, but the 1000R curve is very severe and it's just really expensive for what it is. There's plenty of far cheaper options that are just as good.

the g5's colors are so bad they hide the specs, i had to dig to find that it is 74% argb, and 89% srgb, which is frankly unacceptable for a modern monitor, if you are not buying it for the curve there are better options, and if you are buying it for the curve, get the g7, ur eyes will thank you.

What would you recommend as a cheaper better alternative to the G7?

One example would be the MSI MAG274QRF-QD. It has a lower refresh rate, but that isn't noticeable for most users and it's better in pretty much anything besides that.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I mean it doesn't have the curve though.

Sure, but the 1000R curve is more of a problem than a selling point.
