Your Opinion Matters: RAM Overclocking

Hi,

 

I have Corsair Vengeance pro RGB (Samsung memory) 

4x8GB DDR4 3200mhz 16-17-17-17-36

 

I did the below overclocking:

Vcore SoC Voltage: 1.148v

Vcore SoC Voltage LLC: High

DRAM Voltage: 1.4v

 

3466mhz 18-19-19-19-34, I was able to tighten the trc to 60 and trfc to 600

 

Are the Voltages applied safe? Should i aim at higher clocks or tighter timings?

Good info but you're forgetting the actually important part... performance/fps gain?

Yes, Still didnt do any gaming test except Aida64 which showed latency decrease from 71ms to 69ms which is within margin of error, Copy, read and write speed showed good performance increase

I think it's too slow, loose for the given voltage. yes 1.4 is ok but you better be getting the most out it. I dont push more than 1.375v

71 to 69ms is a 3% speed increase, not exactly something to write home about.

Your primary OC timings are worse than the stock timings.

 

10ns CAS latency vs 10.39ns CAS latency. 10.625ns vs 10.964ns for tRCD and tRD.

 

Your benefits to latency are likely coming from your improvements to tRC and tRFC alone. You are probably better off using stock primary timings and tightening tRC and tRFC, or keep searching for an OC with equivalent or better timings to the stock ones. 18-19-19-39 @ 3600Mhz would be roughly equivalent to the stock latency.

So to answer this. Your voltages are fine. You can go up to 1.2V on the SOC and 1.5V on the DRAM for 24/7. But you should aim for a different combination of clock/timings.

Yes, working on it. Dram voltage now 1.370v, SoC Voltage is now 1.14v

That is true, but he is just getting started, and over time, those percentages will add up. So it might not seem like its worth it now.. LLC shouldn't be needed if you are using PBO, in fact, it will hinder you.. I am ok with up to 1.1625v soc on my 5600X, 1.2 seems a bit high, but I am new to zen in general so in that regard I am a noob, but I was told 1.25.. I think you might have that funny ram.. rated for 1.35 but runs better with 1.4? Don't be shy, it will tell you when it doesn't like something you did.
