I just remembered something although not sure if it would be relevant.

Should i change the GPU thermal paste ?

I mean the 1660 SUPER is new like 2 weeks but any chance it had bad stock thermal paste ?

Was wondering this since i was getting even 80-81'C in Predator Hunting Grounds with max settings.

I wouldn't want to kill my warranty though.

No, leave it alone. GPU's aren't meant to be maintained.   Though people do it, it's usually not necessary.

But doesn't the fact that fans are at 90-95% when gaming and getting temps 79-80'C, doesn't that prove that maybe the GPU stock thermal paste was applied badly or poorly ?

@Dedayog

I was mostly asking because when i will go back to the shop and let them move the parts from the current case to the new case, i was wondering if it's maybe worth a shot to ask them to re-apply the thermal paste on the GPU.

Not sure if re-applying GPU thermal paste would help or make things worse though. 🤔

Not really, no definitive cause and effect there.  The GPU is running hot you say, and we have the obvious 1 fan exhaust issue.  Don't go imagining other ways things could be bad until we get there.

Why do you think it means the paste is bad?  Paste lasts years, and is auto applied by a machine that is calibrated routinely and appllies it the same way to thousands of cards.  You think you got the 0.001% that is applied wrong?

I know paste ussually lasts a few years but theoretically and technically there is still a chance, correct ?

I mean how am i supposed to know ?

Also, since i am letting them move the parts from case to case anyway, wouldn't it be a good idea to tell them to re-apply paste on the GPU ?

@Dedayog my friend, thank you for all the info and advice you have shared !!

Sorry if i was maybe a pain to work with but i'd rather ask a fuckton of questions and know the info so i know what i'm dealing with than go in blind.

I'll return with new temp results in the following days to keep you updated.

You're very welcome.  As long as you realize, in some small part deep down, that you're worrying a lot about a little.

For example the thermal paste isn't something to worry about, but if it makes you happy to change it out, go for it.  Like changing the old in your car every thousand miles, do it if you want but no need for it.

Could it actually do more harm than good if i tell them to replace it though ?

I have returned after switching cases. 🙂

I did NOT ask them to re-apply the GPU thermal paste although i am hoping that won't be necessary.

I will return later on today or tommorow with further results regarding my GPU temps... hopefully they will improve.

Currently i am using 6 fans in this setup

- 1 rear exhaust

- 2 top exhaust

- 3 front intake

One more thing if you might know.

For my case Cooler Master Masterbox MB511 RGB where can i find like a software for fan speed ?

I think the guys at the store said something about controlling it in the BIOS but i have NO IDEA at what speed my fans are running now.

Also maybe some software for controlling them would be nice. 🙂

I don't.  I'd check in the Support page for the case or there may be generic software on the 'net.  I just plugged mine in and ran with it.  I use these... regular 3 pin fans.

They'll be a little louder at max speed but they're rated for that and will run like that for years.  HWInfo64 may have fan speed stats, not sure.

They'll be a little louder at max speed but they're rated for that and will run like that for years.  HWInfo64 may have fan speed stats, not sure.

@Dedayog

I can't tell u a gaming comparison yet because i haven't tested but here is a youtube comparison.

BEFORE i would get 45-46'C or maybe 47'C while on youtube.

NOW i am getting 36-37'C.

I am quite pleased so far with current results. 🙂

Although... PC has only been running for 30 min or so... might take a look later on as well.

Very nice!  10c is a solid improvement and should carry through all use cases, including high load gaming.

@Dedayog my friend, thank you again for all the info and help you gave me during this period while i switched cases. 👍

I will return after gaming to give you more comparison info.

One thing i noticed and this is probably due to all the fans running... my desk sorta like vibrates a bit. 🤣 Might take a bit of getting used to. 🤣

Get a better desk 🙂  Neither my server desk (Ikea Galant) nor my gaming desk (known as my dining room table) vibrate.

Or look into antivibration feet.  Or put the PC on a table next to the desk to free up space?

You're very welcome and glad your temps are lower while still rocking max performance.

Oh you have got to be kidding bro... you want me to switch desks AFTER i already got everything set up and runs. 🤣

It's ok though, the vibration isn't exactly super noticeable... i'm still not sure though... what exactly causes the vibration ?🤔

As far as i know i don't have any coolers like "underneath" the case... just 1 rear, 2 top and 3 front... the 2 top are kinda left-sided since they aren't bigger than 120mm i think... i think i can put way bigger coolers up top.

I mean you could go larger fans if you wanted, that's your call.  I was just here to advise on the 3 in , 3 out status.

Well, the vibration is from all those fans moving.  You have a good bit of stuff moving around in that case.  The vibration won't be noticeable for long, you get used to it if you're not imagining it 😜

Is the vibration though coming from inside ?

When gaming if temps go up and maybe fans go higher (have no idea what RPM they're running at now) will it crack the glass panel ??

Currently have a 5.1 surround system but i'm done spending money on my PC. 😁

The components upgrade + PC case + new monitor (not set up yet LOL) + fans = already more than i wanted to spend. 😁

@Dedayog

This is my motherboard : GIGABYTE B550M DS3H

https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B550M-DS3H-rev-1x/support#support-dl-utility

Can you please take a look in that link in the "utility" section and tell me what i need for fan speed and maybe RGB lighting ?

The guys at the shop said that through the BIOS but they said there might also be software for my MOBO for this... i honestly have no idea which to use. 🤔
