So I got my lower wisdom teeth removed because they were impacted (growing sideways) and because I have crowding (not enough space for all teeth to grow normally).

I did it while awake, with local anesthesia only, it lasted a good 45-50 minutes. At first it was only 1 doctor, a resident, and a nurse. 10 minutes later 2 students decide to drop by my operating room to watch and assist.

Going into it I was a little antsy, but I eventually calmed down during the operation, but there still was an unnerving experience hearing the drill grind my teeth in half, and then the crunch noise made by a pair of pliers removing my teeth.

It's 7 hours later and my entire jaw hurts like a mofo. Took me 45  minutes to eat a plate of oatmeal.

Hopefully by the time sunday rolls around the swelling will lessen and some of the pain will dissipate.

My mouths fucking gigantic for swallowing penis so.. i didn't have to get my wisdom teeth taken out. but i had to get 3 root canals. One on my front tooth, one on my back right, and one on my back left. Front tooth still sensitive months later ( just tissue damage not sharp pain)

Painkillers.

Unfortunately they don't prescribe Vicodin like they used to, instead they give: acetaminophen and ibuprofen.

This is probably a good thing, as some people would abuse Vicodin to get high.

I had my 4 taken out in one sitting, same reason as you. 2 breached and 2 had to be dug out. The ones that had not breached were optional but I figured why the hell not, don't want to come back ever again right? I didn't realized how shitty it would be after the fact. I am the type of guy that tells other men to stop being pansies when showing pain. This was December 23. Needless to say that was one miserable Christmas. I rarely drink but for the next handful of days I was pretty much drunk the whole time and I do have to say it helped. As you know or will know after the pain gets reasonable the only issue is digging food out of your holes.

Oh, I always use ear-buds while at the dentist, crank it up so I can barely hear the drill...that's noise is a mental assault.

I'm not looking forward to having all of my wisdom teeth removed... BUT, yay icecream/gelato

Yea, but youll get sick of it, trust me. So far today I had some yogurt, pudding, and oatmeal and I already miss normal food.

I won't need to get 'food out of my holes'. Lol, The doctor stitched up both locations with dissolvable wire.  :D . Unfortunately I wasn't able to use earbuds, but they had background music playing off a computer from pandora. Personally the noise from the drill didn't bother me that much, it was the vibration that resonated throughout my head that freaked me out.

My top two are fully erupted and aligned properly, so they recommended that I didn't get them removed.

I had to get my wisdom teeth removed. Never really took painkillers even though I had them, I just ate a LOT of apple sauce and tomato soup (once the scarring had healed and I could eat tomato soup without pain)

Yup. Soft foods for me for the next few days.

Also what I found interesting was that they used Potassium Chloride as a local antiseptic before injecting the anesthesia, needless to say, It tasted horrid.

Luckily i had space in my mouth for my wisdoms i still use them.

the worst thing i've had done to me is i went to a shit dentist to have a tooth removed that was giving me a lot of trouble. he didn't wait long enough for the painkillers to set in let just say i felt it and the whole surgery could hear me screaming  from pain as he yanked on my tooth.

last year i had a heap of work done 2 root canals 3 teeth removed 4 fillings. also got 2 crown's and bridge done and something else i forget. i also have a plate with false some teeth (for the back of my mouth) that i never use i hate it soo much.

12k later i can now eat steak  :)

I swear I'm immune to pain or something, I got all 4 removed in one go and I didn't have to take a single painkiller in the months that past.

Wow.  How old are you?  I was 11 when I had my first teeth removed, no painkillers.  Had more teeth removed when I was 14 and got hydrocodone 5mgs x20.  For them to not give you anything... damn.

18. They did prescribe acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and something else. Only taken 1 ibuprofen pill so far. Actually going to take the 2nd dose of my meds in about 15 minutes.

The pain isn't that bad at the moment, it was mostly painful right when the local anesthesia started to wear off.

When I got four of my teeth pulled the dentist was super impressed/amazed at how little pain response I have in my mouth , I only had one a shot novocaine split between four teeth which is nothing considering the legal limit you allow to receive is 12.

For them to not give you anything... damn.

It's not really all that uncommon, most dentist don't give you anything unless your younger than 12 or are having I've something done that's really going to hurt.

Novocaine was last used ~40 years ago, Now they use 'better' drugs. I only got 2/3 of a syringe full for 2 teeth of local anesthesia.

I did it while awake, with local anesthesia only, it lasted a good 45-50 minutes.

I once had a surgeon refracture my carpal (wrist) bones, because they were wrongly attached following an accident.

That was done with a local anesthesia and while I was awake. It was a strange feeling being jerked by your arm everytime his hammer hit the chisel.

Which he was using to break the bones. It was like I was listening to a rock sculpter. Let alone the warm sensation of being cut open.

Six months ago I had all four taken out, twenty minutes all under a general, didn't feel any discomfort or pain. Was prescribed strong painkillers but didn't have a single one.

I consider myself super lucky.
