Recommend mini PC that supports HDMI-CEC and can run android

https://www.amazon.com/Firefly-Station-Android-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B08Y17J21F

For example...

Or do I need to buy and adapter?

I don't really want a locked down tv box, but if it's the only way except Raspberry Pi and flavors I'll accept it. Thing about latest Raspberry Pi is it has ton of things I don't plan on using, and they all get included in price. Plus it needs active cooling and adapters for micro HDMI anyway.

If anyone recommends NVIDIA SHIELD one more time: it has an overkill GPU, and I don't plan on gaming...ancient android 8 and not very future proof amount of RAM.

Rpis dont need active cooling but its preffered to have active cooling, and its a must for ocing which a tv box might need if you are doing intensive work on it

Even 3B+ is struggling right now, real summer this year. Had to remove the top of the case... According to reviews RPi 4 is thermal throttling in official case. Pi 400 although cool is not an option, because I don't have the room and am not replacing desktop PC.

Yea tv boxes are rather locked down and they will prob track your watching habits through active content recognition for advertising bs.

Rpi is basically the only way to go here unless you want to jerry rig a phone and use that as the bloody tv box, which might actually work on some phones that have the capability to put out a display signal through usb c

Only issue with phones is that some of them have a crap ton of bloatware that just keeps on sending data to their servers, you can avert this via installing a custom recovery, rooting, and installing a custom rom via the recovery.

If you cant just use a firewall like noroot firewall and block the apps that you wanna block and that works fine for me, except for the fact that it doesnt autostart cause for whatever reason if you use a chinese phone, chinese cant design android firmware correctly.

Ironic considering chinese can make literal boards out of scrap and program a bios for them, along with other insane hacks

Wouldn't the RPi be significantly cheaper anyway? Compared to what you linked at least.

I have been using one for years, following related news and such. Pi 400 is the closest to what might actually work. If I figure out a way to fit it on tv shelf.

I could deal with sideloading some apks. I am not sure if the one I linked even supports HDMI-CEC, couldn't find a decent review. Thanks for digging through my post.

We ain't talking about much money here, compared to time I might save if I find some device that has official android support.

While HDMI-CEC might be supported by Pi itself, it doesn't work on all operating systems. I fear it will not work with android.
